I cut in here.
I had a 50cc a couple of years ago and elaborated back and fourth with weights, springs, clutch and God knows what to gain top speed. I gained top speed but lost power uphill or the opposite. I spend some money there but went back to original setup and got it running (with the pink cable cut) at about 55 km (35 mph) on level road. The carburetor has to be calibrated exactly, that's nr.1 if you ask me.
What i really wanna say, now that i have a Yamati 150cc -07 since a couple of weeks ago (2800 km), is that there is a lot of questions in different forum about gaining speed. We have 150cc and we can't make magic with that kind of engine. I got a new original belt (842 20 30) that is 2 mm wider than what i had and 12 gram wight instead of original 13 grams. The carburetor is calibrated exactly and that took some time (having a rev counter in the dash really helps).
Full throttle from standstill and the rev goes up to 6 000, waits half a second and then goes straight up to 7 500 and accelerates nice (even uphill). At 80 km/hour the rev climbs to the red line at 8 000 and gains a little more speed, 88-89 km/hour. Downhill I hit 100+ km/hour. The only way to really gaining speed and torque is to put in a 170cc but that's only what i think.
