I am wondering all of your opinions on my interpretation of the coil readings. Do You all agree that the secondary coil appears to be shorted?

Yes, that is where I ordered my parts from. I will check the wires on the CDI/TCI box to make sure they are all the way in. I also received notification that my order was delayed so I won't have my new parts until Friday... But what can you do...

Thanks Guys, my scoot does not have a side stand switch? or it's been disabled. I actually haven't looked for it. just know that it doesn't change anything if it is up or down, even when it was running. The kill switch operates differently on this scoot than on my other 150cc sunl, or 50cc tank (all purchased in the last 2 months) when the switch in engaged on my 260 the starter will not turn either. So if I can crank the starter the switch is in the run position.

Hello all, I am new to the forum and scooters in general, but not new to small engine work, but I am kinda stumped. I really appreciate all you guys keeping up this information for us newbies. I have looked over most of the threads about no-spark and have some ideas that I am going to try, but since I am at work and can't try right now I though I would start this thread and get as much advice as I can before I go home tonight. I bought this scoot used it is a 2008 with 3400 miles. It didn't run very well at first and I found out that the carb diaphragm had a tear in it. I had the carb rebuilt and replaced the spark plug with a new NGK and drove it to work for a couple weeks or so. It slowly started running rough like it was missing and I looked over the service manual for the yp250 and found some of the engine spec's and decided to try to tune it up a bit. I adjusted the pilot screw to specs and I bought an NGk Iridium spark plug and gaped it to what I thought was the spec. Being a noob and an old Mustang guy I forgot that everything on these scooters is metric and gaped the plug way to big... The scooter did start and seemed to run smoother. Then the next morning I climbed on and it started right up. I pushed off the center stand gave it some gas and it died, then it would not start again. I pulled the scoot apart and began testing. I discovered I didn't have any spark when I hook up a spark plug to the coil and ground it to the engine. I started looking for a new coil but was told by several shops that coils almost never go out (and that they didn't have it) and it is probably something else, more likely that the problem was the CDI. I did buy a new CDI (figured it would be good to have a spare anyway) installed it, but it didn't change anything still no spark. In the service manual was a procedure for checking the coil with a ohm meter so I followed that. The cap showed the correct resistance and so did the primary, however the secondary was supposed to be 10.5 -14 k Ohms and it was only 3k. according to the manual if the coil is out of spec replace it. (side note: I am located in NW Fort Worth, TX and am having problems finding anyplace on my side of the world that has scooter parts. If any of you know of some shops I would appreciate that info.) I ordered a coil from Cali, but since I wasn't willing to pay 93.00 plus the price of the coil for overnight shipping it won't be here till the end of the week. I also checked the pickup coil resistance and it checked out OK as well. I don't have pics of the CDI or the wire colors, but I can get them if needed. My scooter, coil, and CDI look just like the one listed in this post thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=250classchinese&action=display&thread=2021 but the thread was never completed, so I don't know if he ever got his scoot to run again. Thanks in advance for your help in this matter. P

Well I think I just found it... I think it is the crankcase cover protector... So I'm guessing I need it... Anybody know where I can get one?

Hello I'm new to the forum and scooters. I have a Xingyue 260cc motor scooter : XY260T-4 it looks like it would be a burgman clone I have also been told it is the same as the BMS TBX 260, and I have been on their site looking for parts, however I have been unable to locate one of the parts that is broken on my scoot and I think needs to be replaced. I'm not sure what it is called and have been unable to determine what it is even from the yp250 manual (which I understand from this forum is what the engine is cloned from) On what I would call the transmission on the left side of the rear wheel is a plastic cover that is broken. What is this cover and does it need to be replaced or am I ok without it. If it needs to be replaced, any idea where I can find one. Thanks All.
