I did as suggested above and connected a cable to the ground part of the battery and connected it to the ground part of the light bulb and it worked. Problem is, light doesn't get brighter when I squeeze either of the brake levers.

In most cases, yes the tail and brake light are separated. In my case, there is only one light bulb with two different color glasses that use one light bulb to simulate both lights.
Is there a way to ground the light bulb via a different method in order to 100% say it is the ground wire?

HI all, I posted this some time ago but had to stop because of some complications. Basically, I have a Znen model ZN150T-E and the brake light does not turn on at all. The scooter does turn on with the lever squeezed in. Attached is a ghetto image I created after following the cables. At this point all I can settle for re-wiring so at least have the light is on when the scooter is running, getting brighter I can live without. I also tested the cables at random spots, and the light bulb never turned on. it feels as if there is no electricity running through. here's a link to the actual electrical map: encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSYJbFC039HutTBg2vxFP4uIYOYWgYVSB4f1BskDDnz003Fuyj64wany help is greatly appreciated. So, to get this right. The problem is the ground (brown) cable. I tried traching the cable but it is a pain since I have to take apart the fairings. I will try following it all the way later and let you know what I find. but from the looks of it, it seems the brown wire might have come loose at some point.

Hello,
Thank you for your advice. The scooter does start witht he brake squeexed in, and I'm not sure the difference between the tail light and the brake light. The rear only has the two turn signals and the red ligh which is on while you ride and gets brighter when you brake. i would imagine they are both in the same, thus the two filaments in the bulb. I will trace the cable and see where it leads.
Thank you

Hi all,
I was looking up how to fix a non-working brake light and I stumble upon this great site.
I have a Znen model ZN150T-E which only has a rear brake light that does not turn on at all, and sadly is not working. I bought new bulbs but that didn't fix the problem, so I'm guessing it must be something else.
I'm new to the scooter world, so any help is appreciated.
Thanks
