I just today posted this tutorial in the General Help section in the tech section; thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=gall&thread=809Normally that's all I do with a new tech section thread or post but this one deals with a subject that has stumped many a scooter owner whether it be how to fix a faulty one or just someone having the aggravation of their scooter not starting and then finding out they accidentally hit the emergency or what some label as the engine cut off switch. In fact a lot of people don't understand the way this switch works or even understand a scooter's simple wiring set up. The way that nearly all scooters kill systems work is simply by grounding out the CDI which supplies voltage to the coil thus making the spark plug spark. For the most part a scooter's electrical system is just like a ordinary lawn mower, yep that's right a lawn mower. ;D Remember the old days when you killed the mowers engine by simply pushing a spring loaded tab of some sort over on the end of the engines spark plug and it killed the engine? Heck I've killed many a lawn mower with a screwdriver! For sure you made sure you didn't touch that plug! ;D Then came along the electric start mowers with a key and when you turn off the engine you are doing the exact same thing, just grounding out the spark plug. Scooters work the same way and by understanding the system you can more easily fix a no start problem. The tutorial explains 3 different scooter systems from the no emergency kill switch with a remote system to the very common 3-wire set up and how to troubleshoot them. Read the tutorial and if you have any questions or comments please fell free to post them. If anyone has a completely different set up let me know and I'll add it to the tutorial. JR

Ok so if you have an alarm and you want to disconnect and be able to start and shut off the motor where do you splice in a jumper? It would be nice if you had another picture with the jumper wires to show exactly how to jump it. Alleyoop

I can do that and it's simple whatever color the kill wire is going to the alarm is the wires that you jump together. The wire on that diagram was black/white so that is the one you jump.
Some scooters like my Bali 150 did not come with a alarm but have the plug there for one in case you wanted to install one yourself. It already had the jumper installed.
