Blocking Diode By rp (Read 4,826 times)

Did not disconnect my battery when checking some wires and now scooter will not crank. Got horn and fuel pump runs.
I have two diodes, one is rectangle and smooth the other is rounded out. From what I understand these are the diodes that connect (at least one) to the kill switch. My diodes have two prongs coming out of them. For replacing these with a relay the tutorial shows a 4-prong relay. I do not want to second guess
how that works.
I've checked several suppliers and came up empty on new diodes.
Roketa.com and I do not get along.

Replaced both of the diodes with relays from O,Rileys. Bought 2-30AMP 4-pin relays, p/n 8640. They are from Dorman and are on the rack by the electrical connectors etc.

I used the black wire from the ignition (as suggested) The tabs on the relay were labled with almost the same numbers (1 might have been different) Bottom line, it was a pretty quick fix and I would recomend it to anyone just on the issue of not having a hot wire hooked up 24-7 like the diode was.

Scooter is running again. Starts right up. But has a tiny blueish purple spark.

Keeping on looking.

Glad ya got her going RP but I'm a little confused? You had two diodes? That's a new one on me? Could you post pictures?

Just an update. I haven't been able to get back to my scooter since my last post.
I will be moving it in for the winter hopefully nest week and will be taking it down again after the new year. I will also be getting some pictures, for sure.

When that happened to me, I replaced a fuse just below the right rear of the seat under the plastic.

My first attempt to get a photo is a bust.

But here's the story: The two r/bn wires from my relays (diodes)
join a third r/bn wire from the rectifier and a single r/bn wire then goes to the fuse block, where it comes out as a brown wire for some lighting. And I'm asking myself the same question. Why would I need two diodes to go to a single fuse?

I will be disconnecting one and see if I still get the blue spark,
and clean up the spaghetti bowl of wires.

The photo is fine RP and from what I see it looks like the wiring has been altered? You do have the YY250T or the 244cc vertical engine like Cruiser right?

I have the Roketa MC-62 . The operators manual says XY260T-4.
I have seen it refered to as both a 250 and a 260.(the precise number is 257) It is the Linhai clone. Manufactured by Xinguye. (L4S)
The wireing diagram in the manual has been right on with the exception of the two diodes and some wires going to an oil pump. Thanks for taking a closer look.

RP I'm thinking the other unit is the starting relay as Xinguye puts this on their scooters and BMS and others copy this. Check out the above diagram and it has the oil pump wires too.

This is the exact same wireing diagram as mine. I will be checking the starter aspect this weekend. (Scooter is at my daughters house). My thought is that a second diode was put on by mistake or because it's a univeral harness and they had to fill in the gap.
