My 250 has the stock airbox but getting it to stay attached is iffy. It is an ‘07 so the plastic may have warped over time and the manifold could need renewing. I’m wondering what others have done regarding airbox removal, filter replacement options, and jetting.

Ok,don’t fall off your chairs laughing. The carb to airbox horn’s clamp was the issue. The screw head had pulled through the clamp metal so adding a washer allowed it to grip again. The boot, screw and clamp are all black so seeing the problem was difficult. Amazing how well it runs without that air leak!

Ok, the semi basket case Bali is functional again. The super epoxy on the worn wheel splines is holding up and the axle nut’s red Loctite will take 500F to release. It runs fine and got fresh shocks off eBay that feel much better. Also got replacement speedo there too. The temp gauge didn’t work so added one plus voltmeter. I’ve read all the older posts about the cooling system and have a few questions. I’ve not been able to get the radiator hot enough to close the fan switch so added a manual one like I did with the choke. The temp gauge nearly pegs but drops to 210F with fan and doesn’t boil over. This makes sense with the sensor being at the hottest spot on the engine and the fan switch on the bottom of the radiator. In the posts it was inferred that 212F was normal in these engines. Two of my other bikes show 180/190F but their sensors aren’t on the heads. I’m having fun with it and might even liquidate one or two bikes next spring as I only get out to ride once or twice a week at 78. Here’s a few pix of the plastic beast that has a lot of JB weld holding it together.
