The history on this 260Tank is that it sat for quite some time (3 years). It was in the shop a month ago and after some work on the carb the scoot started and ran just fine. This was after I tracked down and repaired an electrical problem caused by mice. When I got it home I discovered that it wouldn't start and found a cracked intake manifold. I replaced the manifold with a new one. Now, it started and idled for 10 seconds before shutting down. Upon a second attempt to start it I saw fuel flowing out of a side port on the carb. I'm no mechanical expert but I know enough to think this ain't good LOL. I deleted the stock airbox and installed a carb filter, much like the ones I used on my older bikes. What should be looking for as a cause here?

Two things can cause this situation,,,either the float needle is stuck or came off its tab mount on the float and isn't seating properly and not shutting off the fuel flow from the tank and it's coming out of the overflow vent (which you saw) or the needle itself has a bad rubber tip and isn't sealing

You might be right about the float needle. I didn't think of that. Thanks for the tip.

Well, I pulled the carb and it needed a good cleaning again. The float was sticking due to a little gunk buildup. I thoroughly cleaned the carb, reinstalled it and after multiple attempts she finally started and idled. I also tested half throttle to make sure there was no bogging down and for the first time in a long time she runs just fine. I'll road test it once I get the under-seat compartment and seat reinstalled. Thanks for the help.
