I bought a 125cc 4stroke scooter knowing it had a problem reaching top speed. It has 20k on the clock. I thought I could fix it pretty quickly but I was completely wrong. To begin with it couldn't go over 50 kph. So the jobs I've done so far... Changed spark plug and spark plug lead, changed carburettor and did the valve clearance to bring it back to whatever it stated in the manual. I thought this would fix it but now on a flat straight I can only get to 60kph max and it slows down to around 45kph when goin up a steep hill. I've taken the cvt cover off, revved it up and the clutch looks like it's moving smoothly with a full range of movement whilst on the stand. It seems to rev higher whilst on the stand than it would under load whilst on the rod. I've driven about on it for a couple of months now without any sort of performance loss. It's just as slow as it was a couple of months ago after the spark plug etc was changed. It seems to take off smoothly and fairly quickly then gets to about 10kph and is quite slow to gain speed after that. Does anyone have any ideas?? Reply With Quote

Couple things come to mind,,the clutch pads may be glazed and need to be lightly sanded or with 20k on it maybe a change is in order or more likely the variator is starting to show the miles and it may need a good service or replacement,,at least the rollers need changing
