JCL MP250A dash lights won't come on or fire up engne ? By 4950cycle (Read 606 times)

Hi, I just was wondering if anybody with my bike or Roketa knows whats wrong to save me some diagnostic time. All of a sudden yesterday I went to start my scoot again. The dash lights won't come on and the starter button won't start it. But if I jump my starter relay / solenoid it will start up. But gauges are eratic and wrong . Key all of a sudden has no effect on anything ? What besides my ignition switch would do this. Or is that it, my ignition switch went bad ?

Let me answer my own question for someone elses benefit mainly. It was the fuse hidden in the starter relay or starter solenoid to us old schoolers. It is a 20 amp blade fuse. And again it is kind of hidden in the plug I mentioned. You have to unplug said relay to see it. Then believe it or not I started it and it was running fine at an idle when all of a sudden it just quit running Bam ! If I have no spark I bet it is the coil, No ?

I have no spark now . I'm waiting for someone to tell me theres some kind of flow chart for finding you have no spark on a JCL 250. So I guess it's elementary. The coil then I presume ?

Ok, Got my new coil today. Put it on and it starts right up. I scurry around getting some tools out of the way so I could pull out on the scooter. Meanwhile scooter siting there warming up. All of a sudden scooter just quits. I suspect no spark again , so I check for spark and NO spark again. What the frig is wrong with this PITA ! Check the wires and all is fine there. What next, The CDI ?

Waiting for my CDI from Calif. . The one I bought from Miami didn't work. I received my 12 gram sliders I ordered off Ebay. No Hurry to install them yet since it won't run right now. But very soon !
