My mistake! The good news, the carb was correct. I must have been tired when I looked at it. the bad news, I still have the original problem. It will run at idle but sputters and dies if I try to give it any gas. I hate to do it but I am going to put the original stator back on because it was running before, it just would not charge. I put an electric fuel pump on 4 or 5 years ago. I tested that and I am getting plenty of gas to the carb. I will report back after I put the old stator back on.

update. The carb was correct. I must have been tired when I looked at it. The bad news was that after putting the new carb on I still had the problem that it would idle but sputter and die as soon as I tried to give it gas. Because it was running correctly before I changed the stator (not charging the battery) I decided to put the old stator back on. As soon as I did that, it runs correctly. The new stator was bad! I really don't know why. It had a good output at idle, about 15 volts.
As I said in one of the earlier posts, the mounting holes in the new part did not line up with three holes. I had to remove the metal clip on the stator that holds the three yellow wires and only use two of the three mounting bolts.
It looks like all 18 poles on the stator are identical and the pick up device looks at a magnet on the outside of the fly wheel. Could rotating the stator while mounting it cause my problem?
Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The trigger sensor will only fit in one position so it has to be something with how the stator coil was positioned. Thanks for the suggestions. The scooter is running good now with the old stator installed. The new voltage regulator and replacing the blocking diode with the relay took care of the problems. Have put 50 miles on it so far and all is good. I bought a used Burgman 650 Executive and purchased the two year warranty. If it stops running, someone else can fix it!

So glad to see this thread! Had tje same exact problem. New stator not mounting exactly right. I did carb r and r , valve adj. Everything i could do. Guess i will put old one back in as well. My cart does not seem to have voltage reg or resister though. Bought used but always had charging problem. So the reason for stator r&r. Should there be resister or voltage reg?
