I have a 2008 Linhai Aeolus 260. I threw the throttle cable the other day at the mount by the carb. I got it back on; however, now it is too tight. How tight is tight enough but not too tight? Someone please help. I've owned and worked on motorcycles and cars but this is my first scooter and it is a whole new beast to me.

When you say too tight are you meaning hard to turn the throttle?

Make sure there are no sharp bends or small loops from the handlebar to the carb, otherwise the cable inside will cut through the sheave and bind. Also make sure you have at least 1/8-1/4 free play when you twist the grip before the cable actaully turns the throttle control wheel. Alleyoop

Yes, I mean it is hard to turn the throttle. Also, you have to manually turn the throttle back, it doesn't snap back like it should.

Thank you alleyoop. How do you adjust the free play though?

Here is a carb with the cable attached to the bracket and the throttle control wheel which has a spring on it. Now to have 1/8 -1/4 slack at the throttle grip Loosen #1 nut and push forward and tighten #2 nut. Also by the handgrip the throttle cable will also have some adjustment as the cable comes out and it usually has a bend and you will see an adjustment screw there as well. If it does not SNAP BACK shut it is either binding or it has NO SLACK. Alleyoop How to give some slack: IT IS NOT YOUR CARB BUT ALL CARBS ATTACH THE SAME WAY.
