With a a9 cam now I have a lot of valve clatter. Is this normal? The rockers are set at .oo35 .I also installed a 170cc BBK and 4mm stroker crank. I used 3 base gaskets to clearance the piston.

Is that .003 inchs ? if so set them to .002 inchs Also after you set them ROTATE the motor over by hand a couple of times and RE-CHECK the gaps before you button it up.

How's it coming Bud, any good or bad results. Now a little tip well gaped valves will do some TICKY TICKY noise that tells you they are not tight and not to loose. If they CLATTER CLATTER then they are to loose, no noise whatsoever they are probably little to tight and with heat the valves may not seal and you will loose compression. Alleyoop

It turns out the valves was not the noise source. The stroker set up even with 3 base gaskets let the piston just touch the head. Not enough to feel or hear when turned by hand. But when running I could hear a ticking. I tore it down last night and used a dremel to champher the piston .015 and I even touched up the valve releifs. Should have it back in the scoot tonight.
