Greetings all! I got my hands on a 2008 Roketa MC-75-150 today. It was stored in a garage for better part of 2 years. I replaced spark plug, gas, gas filter, battery. Cleaned air intake. After a few hard turn-overs, she fired and purred about 1500 rpm. What I didn't notice till this evening was that the headlights and instrument lights were not working. On low setting - no light at all. On high setting - very very dim light from 1 headlight. Instrument lights very very dim. With the scoot up on the center kick... if I rev'd the scoot... the lights would brighten some and then dim down. With the scoot on the street... I wouldn't see anything till I hit a brake... and then the headlight and instruments would light up some. Instruments would light up a little with accelerator action also. Took some time to run voltage at the battery: - Engine Off - 13.0v
- Engine On, idle - 14.3v
- Engine On, 5k rpm - 15.1v
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Richx1

Check the ground wire going to your headlights. Alleyoop

Checked the ground. Solid. Cleaned it, reattached. Still the same issue. Brighter on rev, dim on stop.
Replaced the Voltage Regulator. Still have the same issue.
Is the stator the next item to change?
Stumped.

On the older model Roketas it common for the lights to dim somewhat on idle, my 150 Bali does. Do this:
Turn the headlights on lo beam setting and measure voltage on battery at idle and revved up to say 4k RPM
Then put lights on hi beam and do the same and report back your readings. BTW some of the older Roketas have 6 pole stators and that even makes it worse.

Broke down and started tracing wires... Found a pinched and broken ground wire in the sleeve under the headlight cowl to one of the headlights. Sleeve was in perfect condition... Grief.
bonus question - On low, do I get a single light and on high do I get both lights?
extra bonus question - any benefit to putting on an 11 pole stator?
thanks a ton guys!

FIRST BONUS QUESTION? Did fixing the ground wire HELP. And what about the results JR asked for? As for your bonus question. YES on both. Except on my Trike Alleyoop

Ick... I should have mentioned that. After re-soldering the wire and taping the harness, suddenly I had lights coming back on and the brights indicator was lighting us. So far, this seems to be solved. Broken wire in the harness.
I still have the typical dimming and brightening with rpm, but nowhere near as bad as it was before... Thus why I asked about upgrading the flywheel and stator to at least 8 pole. Not sure I'm in the mood to rebuild the harness to accept a 7 wire r/r so I might pass on the 11 pole.

GREAT!! Good find on the broken ground wire. And yes swapping out the 6 and 8 is a pretty straight forward swap not like the rewiring job of an 11 pole stator.
But just about all scoots at idle with lights on they will dim until you give it some revs, that is pretty much the norm on these Chinese scoots. Alleyoop

That's what I was expecting to hear Alleyoop...
What about the other angle... Reducing the load with LED bulbs? I figure all the running and brake lights... But I am finding mixed feelings on headlights. Many I have come across so far seem to be low beam only... But as high as 88w in equiv lumens power... Very torn. I believe you run LED (less your headlight)... Your opinion on it?
Anyone running a LED headlight set (S2/BA20D)?

Yep, I never put on my headlights I run with the front little running lights only. And my whole electrical system on my Trike is run off the Battery. The only thing that the stator is doing is feeding the Enricher(which I took off and installed a Manual Enricher), the R/R for charging up my battery, and feeding the CDI power. When I turn the KEY on the volt meter and gas gauge come on, there is a light switch on my right hand grip so I have to move it to the MIDDLE and then my instrument panel lights come on, running lights come on and all the way LEFT is to put on the Headlights.
I have all the bulbs with LEDS and it is charging at 14.5 at idle, BUT if I put on the headlights it drops dramatically unless I rev it up so the R/R can keep up with the high draw of the headlights. I have a radio on it but that doesn't make it drop like the headlights do at idle with the radio on it drops into the 13+range and of course it goes up into the 14+ range when I am riding and have some rpms. tvnacman.blogspot.com/If you go from 6 to 8 pole stator your going to need to change magneto also . I had my bout with the 6pole changing over to 11pole was the best thing I think I have done to my scooter . Stable lights and charging all the time and extra power , even to boost another scooter or motorcycle . John
