Thanks J. R. Didn't know that there were 3 different sizes. The break down will be 1st. Cruiser I have the horizontal engine not the vertical. A friend has the vertical Mc-13 Bali. Hey Guys, check out scrappydog and let me know what you think. Are these parts for my scoot ? I can even get the head and the valves here.

Thanks for the scrappydog site. I think it looks like the best for me. This is all new for me so I think I'll take some pictures as I go for reference for putting it back together. I know it's easy to cross the vacumm lines and where to hook up the gas lines on the carb.

And remember, the University of Scooterology has at least one esteemed professor specializing in Linhai trivia. Good luck in your motorectomy.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll keep you posted as I get time to break it down to see what kind of damage has been done. Still, I'm wondering what has been the cause of such damage.

As I started stripping down the scoot today I found a tag and here is what it had on it. Engine Displacement : 244.3 cc Engine Family 8GLDCO.25NFG Is this something I need when I order parts ? It also said to use 90 octane or higher. Engine oil sae 10w-40 type SE Spark plug: CTS-C7SHA Gap: O.7MM . Can someone translate the O .7MM over to Thousands for me ? LOL'S I don't know if my guage has metric on them or not.

Finished stripped off the plastics off today , borrowed a trailor and took the scoot to a friends house to do the major work on the scoot. His son took on the job which was a relief for me cause I am returning work after being off for 3 weeks with a kidney stone. When we unloaded the scoot , I told him about tbe piston size, He said ," look here" . Stamped on the head were tbe #s 170 , Is this the piston size ?

Hi All. First let me thank you for the help you have given me. Now let me telll you where we are at on the scooter. Motor and back unit is off the frame. The head and piston is out. tvnacman was riight on when he said " If your spark plug looks like this, Your piston may look like that." Wow, was he on the money ! .. I ordered the parts from S.D. on a Tuesday and recived them on Friday, Not bad at all. The only thing is, the valves and springs were in a bag and not placed in the head. Oh well, I guess I can get this done at a motorcycle shop. Again , Thanks for the help.

scooterran , I have not been around much , once I went down I started to loos interest . I'm not familiar with the linhai parts at all . Do you own a tork wrench ? Do you know how to use one ? If yes to both carry on , if not buy one and learn how to use it almost every nut on the scooters have tork specs . I can not stress the importants of this enough !!!!!! My engine is an air cooled engine it will be more forgiving if not torked correctly . A water cooled engine is less forgiving . On a water cooled engine the headgasket can leak water in oil , oil in water and or compression in the oil and water . Harbor sells them for like 30 to 50 bucks you will get plenty of use of it .
Good luck dude!!!!!!!!!!!

No that's not the piston size, after you got it apart what size was the piston? don't pay any attention to the 244cc tag if should have been put on the CFMoto engine style a mistake commonly made. JR

Went to a auto parts store today and bought a valve lappin tool and some compound. Did me some lappin on the valves. Want them valves to seat really tight for compression. Ron, a friend of mine, made a compression tool with a C-clamp and welded 2, 2 inch channels on the C-clamp to compress the valve springs to install the keepers. Very neatly done... AT this point I have all the parts and my next move is to start putting the scoot back together on my next days off. Tvnacman, Yes I do have one of them there wrenches and I have used it a couple of times. Got it at Harbor Freight when it was on sale for $9.95.
