Ok everyone wants their scooter to go faster, FACT! But how do we acctually get our scooter to go faster, i believed installing a 70 BBK would do the trick but nada, i still have a top speed of 37 which is 2mph faster than with the 50cc. I am still running stock exhaust, derestricted, and deresticter variator, but why wont it go faster, what do i need to do to it? Fast replys are much appreciated churchy x

Everyone believes just putting in a BBK will get them more top end speed. But that is not what it does, what it does is creates more power at your low end. In other words if the scoot got up to 35mph in 6 seconds now with the extra torque and power you will get to 35mph in 5 seconds but no more top end speed.
To get more Top End Speed a couple of things have to happen. 1. You have to be able to turn the REAR wheel faster here are a few ways to accomplish that. a. Run the motor at Higher RPMS(not really a good exchange because high rpms is what destroys motors). But if the current rpms are not in the RED yet then a few more rpms and not be running in the red will help. This can be achieved with lighter weights but NOT to light otherwise the variator will NOT squeeze the belt high on the Variator. So this is a trial and error finding the right weights that will increase your RPMS and at the same time move the belt up high on the Variator. b. Put in a bigger Variator so you create a bigger wheel turning a smaller wheel c. Put in Taller Tranny gears Alleyoop

Well I suggest you get a TACH, a Tach is one of the most important things to let you know how a motor is running and or if it has a problem and or to tune it. Here is a good tach and can be installed in 5 minutes the hardest part is deciding where to mount it so you can see it as your riding.
A crank will NOT get you higher rpms, as a matter of fact if the crank has a longer arm it will lower your rpms. Read what I said: In your case since you put in a BBK the biggest bang for the bucks are taller gears now that you have more low end Torque to pull the taller gears. Alley

im not asking if a performance crank will increase rpm but it an upgraded crank will allow a higher rpm. e.g. if a standard crank will begin to wear badly at 10,000rpm will a performance crank be able to hold 10,000rpm without any wear...

Great!! You will have a nice tach. But concerning your crank question yes a QUALITY TAWIAN crank will hold up better than your china made ones that is a given. But your talking 10,000 RPMS!!! On a 4 stroke forget it you need very high quality head, valves and springs and rockers for it to up with rpms that high. Besides your 4 strokes the red line is 8,000 rpms after that the valves start to float and KABOOM sooner rather than later.
So get realistic, all your looking for is more top end speed, if you have BIG POCKETS you can build a racing motor and re-build it every few runs and or replace the motor each time. Alleyoop

A 2 STROKE, yes that makes a difference, they produce the power at high rpms but they do not have much at the low end. Do you have a 2 stroke performance exhaust on it. They come on around 7k or so and you can hear the motor just start to wind up producing some good power. Alleyoop

I would also go with alleyoop and say get a performance variator and sliders with a good belt . A good tuned exaughst will work wonders too . I get my parts when I order from .scootparts.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.scootparts.com , they have an English version of the site when you go to it . A lot closer than shipping from the states as they are in the Netherlands . I go with guality parts , mostly Naraku . That site has a ton of two stroke parts for your upgrading and very reasonable prices too.

P.s. Going through the trouble of adding a good forged crank you might as well go with better bearings and seals as well better top end too . But then adding that to the stock variator and clutch would be a waste . Although that would make a very nice motor set up it will cost ££££££££ . Cheaper to get the variator , belt , sliders clutch and springs maybe and so forth.

Ok so here are the parts i have and what i am looking at. Derestricted stock ped is 35/37mph i now have: stronger crank new 72cc bbk Looking at: up gear oversize variator better bearings powerpipe.
with all this on dyno reports say the bbk i have wiith the powerpipe (stage 6 bbk and pipe) produces 11 hp at 10k rpm will this be enough to pull the up gear an will this be a fast ped.
