I'm hoping that all of you are not having too much trouble navigating around the forum now that we have made the software upgrade but it is for sure a little different so I wanted to start putting up some of the providers HELP tips and guidelines and add some of my own for the changes I made in their format. Some of this is just simple how to do this links and I can also add things that relate to this forum to help also. First link: support.proboards.com/thread/460424/adding-signature-postsNow I'm going to add to this link how to. Now you can just put text in your signature as mentioned or a photo and there are two ways to put a photo in your signature. When you are on your personal profile page and want to place a photo in just go to whatever you use to host your photos and when looking for the right link code you will need to use a code like this from photobucket and it's called a IMG code. Photobucket when you ask for a code link gives you 4 choices and use the one at the bottom. It will look like this: [UR L=http://s499.photobucket.com/user/ jrryan2008/media/Photo-00373.jpg.html]http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/ rr359/jrryan2008/Photo-00373.jpg[/IMG][/UR L] I put some spaces in this so it wouldn't bring the photo up and remember you always have to "Save Changes" at the bottom to make this work. Now if you want the photo centered you need to add the center brackets this one on the front [ center] and this one at the end [ /center]. There is another way which was the old way on the old forum and that's take a direct url and you must put the code brackets there yourself, example: [ img] [UR L=http://s499.photobucket.com/user/ jrryan2008/media/Photo-00373.jpg [/ img] Again I put spaces in this so it would not link to the photo. Again you want it centered? Use the center brackets or it will automatically be on the left. [ center] [/ center] Some of you may have noticed this image in your or others signature. It is self explainatory. In the past if someone's signature was too large I either had to reduce it or ask the member to. Here I have a option of using a plugin code to limit the size of the signatures and as you can see the limit here is 150 pixels high. You can have a signature as long as you want provided it fits the page but the height is a maximum of 150px. You will need to size your signature before you put it in your profile and if it is one pixel above 150px you will have this banner come up. I recommend 149px to be safe. I will move on in the next post on other how to's. JR

Here is another helpful link and I'll be adding more: support.proboards.com/thread/460212/ = Creating a thread. support.proboards.com/thread/460214/replying-existing-thread = replying to an existing thread and I not only have the Quick Reply enabled but I have put in a plugin mod that makes it almost like the regular Reply option just like I did with the old forum. Also if you look to the right hand corner on each members post with the other buttons such Edit or Quote you will see a Reply Button. I added this feature so if at any time you are reading a member's post on any page you can hit this button and it will take you straight to the Reply screen where you can type your response and then hit Create Post at the bottom. The nice thing about this button is you can be on page one reading a post and want to immediately reply even though the thread may have say 5 pages, if you reply here it will make the reply fall in order as the last post on the last page. If you want to quote someone then the same thing happens but the person you quote will be put in the quote circle. Will keep adding to this. JR

I want to explain the PM system on V5. PM's now are set up like a thread just like what you post on the forum. PM's cannot be edited or a single post deleted, only the whole thread can be. You can delete a thread conversation by hitting the Actions Drop Down and then click on delete Conversation, this deletes the entire PM between you and the member who sent it to you. Their reasoning is this, for instance say someone PM'd you and gave you a cussing out or was derogatory and you reported them for this behavior and before PB could check into it the member has second thoughts and came back and deleted the post? Once a PM is sent to you only you can delete the entire PM thread. If you send out a PM to any member what you say is then on record unless they delete it. Same with PM's sent to you only you can delete them and when you do it deletes the entire conversation.
Now this doesn't apply to regular threads in the forum.
BTW even as the admin/owner I cannot edit any thread or delete any PM except my own. I also cannot see or look at your PM conversations.
If someone violates the TOS with a PM and you want to report it to me then you must contact me and copy and paste the offending post or you can report it to the Proboards Abuse Team and they will contact me about the problem and if there is a violation.

Signature update. Now the system has been updated to allow photos that are too large to be resized on your signature by the programming. So any of you that did have the banner showing that your photo was too large in your signature should see the phot now and it's resized to 120px in height.

New Participants added. When you click on a thread now you'll a new things called participants. If it is a new thread the NEW icon will be there and the number of participants in the thread is listed as well. If you click on the number of participants a pop up will come up showing each member who has participated in the thread and how many times that member has posted in the thread. Man don't look in the scrabble game!

OK folks, the latest addition, please note that the PM Student and Recent Threads Buttons are now gone or not visible but they have not been discontinued.
Put your cursor arrow over your name and watch the new drop down box appear with 3 options:
PM Student Recent Posts Recent Threads.
They are just what they mean, when your put your cursor over any one of them you can click on that option to see/use.
The recent posts and recent threads are for the member who you chose to view.
Thanks JR

Latest update, if you take notice in the navigation menu right under the banner you will see a new selection labeled "Friends". When you put your cursor over that word you will have a drop down box appear with 4 of our friend scooter forums listed. When you click on any one of them it will take you directly to their site. We welcome other scooter people, forums and also enjoy their sites as well. Thanks

Very nice JR we should all share info to help the guys with their scooter problems. After all that is what GOOD FORUMS are for. One site might have a good mechanical person that knows about certain things and or certain type of scoots while another site might have a good electrical person etc.. Alleyoop

Latest update:
Latest addition is a Student Tag in the Quick Reply and Normal Reply. The tag lists every member that has posted on a thread on that page. If you are replying and want to tag a certain member who posted so they can see that you have done so when they login just click on the Tag button of the member listed and it will automatically appear on your reply, can do it before you start or even in the middle of your reply.
You also have a All button which will tag everyone and a staff button which will tag every staff member if you want staff to see your post for some reason.
