I just ordered a 2012 Ice-bear PS150 type 8 trike and want to replace the 10 inch rear wheels and tires with the 12 inch rear wheel/tire on the Cyclone. I will have to do fender work, I guess, but the question is: Other than fender issues, will this combo bolt on, and where can I buy it?

I would just get taller tires like I have on mine. Mine also has 10" rims and I have 3" taller tires on mine. You can get up to 4" taller tires on that puppy and yes of course you will have to modify the fender holders like I did. As you can see I had the modified fender holders made adjustable in case I wanted to put the 4" taller tires over the 3" taller tires on it(HEHE). The tires I have on are 205/65-10 they are 3" taller than the OEMs. Alleyoop

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]Thanks, Alleyoop! Although I would like a little more top end, I will probably try to find a different sprocket for that. This would be more about cosmetics than performance. I wanted 12" with low pro tires, but this seems to be a golf cart thing. I really need to find the stock wheel data to get the specs. I am old enough to start looking for my "tar pit", so this will be my last big project. I am going to get stupid with the cosmetic mods. Of course, I learned from my YY250T that performance CDI/Coil are a vital part of my PDI!

Well the bigger tires will give you more top end that is why I got them ALSO they are DOT STREET TIRES approved up to 82mph. I also got them because they actually have street threads and are softer more sidewall on them. As far as the Sprocket is concerned check your front sprocket and count the teeth, mine came with a 24 tooth front sprocket and I ordered a 29 tooth sprocket that also will give you a couple of mph top end. The Sprocket on the rear you cannot go smaller due to it being a 30 tooth sprocket already and it just clears the differential housing it is mounted on. Alleyoop

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]If I did my math correctly, the Magnum rims will give me about 2.4 inch diameter increase with less than .5 inch in width.. Vendor says this will void my warranty, but I have learned that there is almost no warranty on these anyway. I'm waiting on a quote from Superiorpowersports. I think it will be outrageous so I may be back begging for info on the tall tens!
Vendor also claims 65mph top speed! I would have to drive it off a cliff at 50mph to hit 65mph on the way down. Thanks for the sprocket info. I have added that to the list.

What are your current tire size and what size are you looking for with the 12" rim? If you give me those numbers I can tell you the difference in speeds between them and your current rims and tires. Alleyoop 65MPH top end speed the guy just wants to sell them(HAHA). Now you have to be carefull with the rims the Trike HUBS are 4 bolt 4.5" spacing. Here in the states the common 4 bolt rims are 4" spacing. Alleyoop

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]Stock on the PST-8 are 225/40-10. The wheels on the Magnum are listed as 235/40-12. I figured the stock at about 8.86" wide by about 17" and the Magnums at 9.25 by 19.4. The PST-8 won't be here for another week so I don't know how much fender clearance I'll have but if my numbers are correct, I will need only an inch the top and a half on the side.
Compatibility is the question! I contacted my vendors tech support and asked them to check wheel compatibility. Life is never that easy, but since both are Ice-Bear, I have a shot.
The PST-8 is a little ugly and kinda slow, but at 64 so am I! With no plastic, it should be a little lighter and much easier to maintain and customize. I spent 30 years in electronic engineering, so mostly this is something to keep my mind busy. Back in the day, we didn't have all of the crap we have now, so this is what we did for fun.
Did my Vietnam thing on a carrier back in 67 and I will always remember seeing hundreds of Japanese motorcycles come off the ship and lined up on the pier.
Well, Ice-Bear lists those wheels as 190/50-12! That is the problem with on-line dealers. I can find different specs for the same machine from most of the on-line dealers so it's always a crap shoot. I am betting that Rapid Repair is closest to the current specs for the 2012 version

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]Excellent calc! Current tires are 255/40-10 and proposed tires are 190/50-12. If my max top speed was 50, I multiply that by 1.08 (speedometer adjustment delta is 8%) and get new top speed of 54. That is dependent, of course, on my engine being able to turn the new combination to the same RPM. This is an urban crap hauler so I won't often have need for that, but I should be able to run 45mph at lower RPM. You are the man!
It won't be cheap, but as I said, this is mostly cosmetic and the increase in top speed will make this a win/win for me.

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]Well, I decided that I wanted the 12" rims/tires from the Magnum for my PST150-8, but tried a few places and could find no vender, so I'll put this project aside for now and work on other mods. Alley, I thank you again for your input and will probably have go with the taller tires when I pick this up again.
