Looking on how to adjust drive chain on the wife's trike it jerks on take off. Also I noticed that when she has the handlebars dead center the front tire is turned. So I am thinking its out of alignment some. Any thoughts and or instructions on how to fix? Thanks Don

Which 2009 Trike do you have what did they call it back in 2009, is it a 50cc or a 150cc? Mine is a 2009 PST150H they change the names when they change the looks on them and upgrade them.
To straighten it out you will have to get at where the handlbars connect to the TREE. It depends how the HANDLEBARS on that trike are connected to the TREE. If you remember how bicycle handlebars are affixed onto the tree on a bicycle it is very similiar.
If the Front wheel wobbles : Jack up the front and get the wheel off the ground and then check for movement it could be a bad bearing or just a bent rim. It could also be a bad TIRE that is not ROUND.
The jerking and bucking is NOT CAUSED BY the CHAIN even if it is a little loose UNLESS it is skipping TEETH but I doubt that very much.
IS the jerking and bucking is it happening ONLY WHEN STARTING OFF? 1. Do you have REVERSE on that TRIKE AND WHERE IS THE REVERS HANDLE? If you do you need to Adjust the REVERSE CABLE GIVE IT A LITTLE MORE SLACK.(Unscrewing the adjust nut giveing it a couple turns COUNTER CLOCKWISE, try it if still give it a couple more turns etc..
2. Have you checked the CASTLE NUTS on EACH rear wheel to make sure they are tight. Sometimes the AXLE moves out a little and the HUB THEN SLIDES out a little OFF the splines on the AXLE SHAFT and it skips around the SHAFT and if you do not tighten it up it will ruin the HUB SPLINES.

Ok I found the Trike you have it is a PST150-9 and it has reverse. The reverse is on the LEFT HANDLEBAR GRIP. Alleyoop

Here is how to adjust the chain, and when you test for how tight push up on the center of the bottom chain and it should move up 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. Also make sure the chain is aligned with both sprockedts(get a straight edge and put it on the FRONT SPROCKET flat against the sprocket side and it should also be flat on the sprocket on the Differential. Alleyoop Here I found a picture of mine and added text hope it helps: Alleyoop
