I own a 49cc Shenke Scooter. Approximately 3 years old. Last year all of my lights went out. Not all at the same time so I would replace bulbs and even those would go out. This year I brought her out for the summer and none of my lights work, my horn doesnt work and niether does my electric start. Clearly it isnt just my bulbs. Last year I replaced my voltage regulator so I do not believe it is that. I have absolutely no idea where to go from here. I know I need a new battery but I doubt that could be the problem here.
Another issue I have is its overall performance. Two years ago I had the fastest scooter among my friends and had absolutely zero problems as far as speed or throttling. This year I have the dog of the group I cannot exceed 20mph which is nothing like how it used to be. I just put a fresh tank of gas in there along with some Sea Foam type stuff to clean everything out. I have messed with the air/fuel mixture screw with no success. Any thoughts on anything else I can try?
Thanks everyone in advance, I hope I can get this fella back at its peak performance again!

For the electrical issue, have you checked the fuse? There should be an in-line one on the small red wire coming off your battery. They can look good and still be blown. Use a continuity tester on it.

Welcome to the forum. I feel you need to get the electrical problems straightened out before anything else. It sounds like the charging system has been frying your lights for some time. A high charging voltage will eventually kill the battery. You should have a good digital multimeter to troubleshoot scooter electrics. You also need a good battery which is fully charged. This is the basis to tell if the charging system is working OK.

I will most definitely get a new battery asap. In response to tvnacman, I have not done a valve adjustment, and not exactly sure how. Gatekeeper, I did check the fuse and it looked good, but if they can still be blown and look "ok", perhaps I should change that out. The other day a friend happened to take mine for a ride and all of a sudden the turn signal and brake light started working. My tail light however is noticeably burned out and I removed the two smaller head light bulbs and both were blown and appeared to have melted the sockets they plug into. They are obviously receiving too much power.

To adjust the valves look at these: .thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=videe&action=display&thread=370" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=videe&action=display&thread=370You don't need to pull the fan cover off, just line up the cam sprocket holes as shown in the videos to make sure the rocker arms are on the back side of the cam lobes. Adjust the valves with the engine cold. If some of the electrics started working on their own, that means you've got some loose connections somewhere. Or some of your connections are corroded causing intermittent contact. Although you replaced the R/R last year, it is not uncommon to get a bad one when new. With the scooter running test for AC voltage at the headlight socket. It shouldn't read higher than 14 volts AC or so. On one of mine I was blowing bulbs although the engine ran well. When I tested for AC voltage at the headlight socket I was getting 16.5 volts AC. Put on a new R/R and the voltage read 13 volt AC an after a year later no more blown bulbs.
