Hey... new to forum. Recently purchased linahi Aeolus 260. Did not test ride it before purchase based upon all that I have read. Love the scooter except for one issue. When at idle engine very quite, but upon opening throttle, engine gets very noisy, sounds like it's knocking, but power is unreal. If I goose the throttle from a standing stop it moves out like a panther. I have a 150 cc scooter also and this is very quite when accelerating . By the way the linahi only has 300 miles on it was purchased with 1 mile on odometer. So my question is this...is there something wrong with engine or does this scooter engine act this way upon opening the throttle ? If someone has this scooter please reply thanks gfox7200

Welcome to the forum. Does it quiet down once you're up to speed? The engine isn't broken in yet and the noise could be from the new stiff belt and/or variator. Have you checked all of the fluids? JR

knocking noise reduced to almost nothing at cruise speed. All fluid levels OK. If i accelerate slowly don't hear knock sound ( 10mph ).but once I increase throttle knock sound is heard. as I said I love the machine, but this noise makes the scooter sound like a piece of junk

Are you absolutely positive the noise is from the engine? The reason I ask is a few including myself have had issues with the clutch pads that engage the rear drive wheel. Mine sounded like rocks in a coffee can at lower throttle but went away under power. I did a thorough cleaning of the clutch pads and bell housing. The problem never returned.

Put it on the center stand and get a screwdriver or even a hollow piece of pipe have someone bring twist the throttle for you and touch places on the CVT and on the motor and put your ear close to the handle or end of the pipe and you will pinpoint where the knock or noise is. That will help diagnose what it may be. Alleyoop

omg, it must be the clutch bearing going bad.,same thing happened to my Sunlee F5 CHINESE scooter before., when i open the clutch, there were no grease in it,shyet! the metal to metal friction produces the noise. more often than not you need to replace the bearing plus the central shaft if damaged.,hopefully not$$$$ .... .. :Dpak! check the cvt assembly too, see if the 4 ceramic sheave guides are still intact,if one is broken, the other 3 will be crushed eventually, then the metal will slap to another metal then creates the knocking shiit. good luck! i miss working on scooters, since i had my morphous 3 years ago,i never had a chance to fix, because it never stalls... my fixing knowledge is rusting out,i think i need to buy a chino scoot to hone my fixing ability once again. again good luck buddy!! love my jap scoot!
