ok with the points installed you should be able to turn the crank and see them open and close the pike of the points cam is the point that opens the points the most feeler gauges are thin strips of metal that is used to measure the gap between the points you can buy them at any parts store

Thanks for the clarification. I'll go buy a set of feeler gauges, I'll look though the manuals I have for the gab stetting. I might be coming back for that info.... nothing is easy to find.
