Last week I posted this problem. Seemed fixed after I cleaned battery posts, starter relay posts/connections and ground wire connections. Put in a new 10amp battery fuse and it started up fine on the stand several times. But, since then I keep blowing the battery fuse and it then starts fine with the kick starter. The pattern is that I replace the battery fuse; everything works for a day or so; then the battery fuse blows and I go through the drill again. Now what should be checked?

Get a volt meter and hooked it up to the battery and start the scoot and rev it up to around 3-4 k and see how much it is putting out if it is higher than 14.7 the R/R is putting out to much. Also look for a bad ground that may be loose and causing a lot of draw.
Did you install anything new like a radio or some kind of accessory? Alleyoop

Should the battery 10amp fuse be replaced with a 15amp? Many of the forum discussions refer to this fuse as being a 15 amp.

Some come with 10amp and some with 15amp you could try 15amp but if it blows that one for sure there is a bad ground someplace that moves around when riding.
I would stick the 10amp and start it up and wiggle the wires around by hand to see if I could find the culprit. Alleyoop

Is there more then one ground that cold affect this.. I have been dealing with only one-- the one where the wires from the battery, the battery fuse and the starter relay are on.

you should have a heavy ground that goes from the battery to the frame and another from the frame to the motor you may need to pull the body panels off to trace it the point on the frame where the ground is connected needs to be bare metal most of the time from factory it will be still cover with paint and make sure the ground on the motor is connect to the metal of the motor alot have the ground attach on the fan cover and it does not ground well there

Thanks. Will check it out tomorrow and report back. I remember the battery ground is painted. Will sand that and look for engine ground.

Those are the major grounds, The ALL GREEN little wires are also GROUND WIRES which normally would create problems like your having. The little green wires you will find going to your lights and switchs and if a bad connection is on a light or something it will make the bulb draw a lot of juice and blow the fuse. Alleyoop

Rainy and cold this weekend. Popped in a 15a fuse. Let's see what happens next. Still planning on tracing the grounds this week.

i would not go any higher than that 15 amp fuse if you go higher you risk having a melt down that will be a pain to fix

I have now sanded both the engine-to-chassis and the battery-to-chassis electrical ground wire terminals and installed a 15 amp fuse. The chassis battery ground connection was covered in paint. Seems to have fixed the problem. Will re-post if the problem re-occurs. Thanks to all for your help.
