Just had a question about cold starts, scoot won't start this morning, the temp here is 6 degrees:-X scoots trying to start, it will start, but won't keep running. Is that normal in these cold temps? Attachments:

The ENRICHER is supposed to keep it running due to needing more gas for the first 3-5 minutes. Are you giving it a little throttle or just letting it start and not touching the throttle? Alleyoop

Hi alleyoop, I don't touch the throttle until it starts, then I use the throttle and then it dies, I keep cranking until I finally stayed started by using the throttle. I did notice mt enricher was not fitting good, like it loose, so I turn it, then re-tighten it, maybe I should take it out and make sure I have the o ring on it. also notice a screw almost totally out of my air box, I'm just wondering that time I did clean my air filter, if it wasn't dry and froze would that make a difference? btw I did get it started a little while ago and lift it run it warm up.

Did check the enricher, has O ring, but doesn't fit good unless I twist it in plance and tighten it down, If I had the money I think I'd buy a new carb

That enricher should fit nice and tight in the hole to seal it then the C clamp holds it down nice and tight. Yes you are supposed to twist it DOWN, you can wet the o-ring all around and it will slip in much easier just so that the SLOT for the C clip is just above the edge to get the C clip to go in the slot. Richard, save that video on your computer and then put it up here. I am getting security violations and I will NOT open anything if my security systems blocks it. Alleyoop

Good morning all, tried an experiment this morning, you know I've been having trouble with hard starts, so this morning I tried something different, took loose the cap on carb where the diaphragm is located and sprayed carb cleaner in the carb and she fire right up and stayed started. That tells me this (and correct me if I'm wrong) either I'm not getting enough gas to the enricher or the valve adjustment is wrong and I have to re-do it. what do you guys & gals think

yepto me it sounds like not getting enough fuel
valve adjustments arent to hard say the girl who screwed it up the 1st 6-7 times
but gee 6 degrees would make anything hard to start

Your right terrilee, I know the enricher is working (but I not sure if the enricher is allowing enough gas in when I try to start scoot) I'm going to check my valve adjustment Sunday, suppose to be warmer. You keep those kids of yours warm, it cold out there

theres 2-3 inches of snow already at the high of 25 --wow heat wave-- so ill ill get all dressed nice and warm and go brush all the snow off the top of the 'run' and let the young ones run around for a hour the old kids, like us old people, dont really enjoy gettin our feet all wet and staying out in it
but i'll go freeze for as long as Fred, Larry & Homeless wanna stay out kids need to burn off energy, OR they will tear the house apart

If it started up and stayed running with spraying some MOJO it is NOT your valves. When cold the motors are finicky if something is not adjusted right.
Question: When it starts up COLD what are the RPMS? And what are the RPMS at IDLE after it warms up?
Give the Fuel Ratio screw a 1/2 turn Counter Clockwise next time before you attempt to start it cold and see if that does the trick. Alleyoop

When it does start the RPMS are around a 1,000, then it slowy goes up, unless I rev it up then it goes up a little faster, to 2,000 to 2,1000 until warmed up and settles down to about 1,800 RPMS. I'll try it and let you know
