so besides here I also post ads on y local craigslist I . I got a text this morning from a guy about 75 miles away . he brought me what I thought was going to be a scooter , ATV 1p57qm ? . The plan was he wanted the electric to work . I was surprised to see an ATV . I was up front with the man . I can fix it I just don't know my way around the controls and he agreed to work with me . We put a fresh battery in and it was DOA . Not the battery the ATV . Well I went for the round glass fuse , it checked good with my meter . I turned the ignition on , Still DOA .

So I will say this I know what I need , the man is happy .

What would you guys look for next ? (zip it JR)

time to start checking grounds and connectors , does it have a kill switch ,electric start, and so forth

I checked with my meter, one lead to + side of battery. The other to the frame and engine. I had 12vdc on both. Grounds are good. Still DOA.

Name brand? Model? Size? = manual

JR I thought it was a scooter I made room in the garage for it. It was raining and ended up working on it in the dark and rain . You would have made quick work of of it as I did.

the kick starter is damaged .

Ding ding ding with the kill switch off and the key switch in the run position.

It started up.

But now what to do about the electric start not working (what it was brought to me for) . And nothing electric was working, lights electric start brake lights horn.

Whats next?

Check for fuses, it may have a fuse box somwhere like some of the 250s do which feed the lights and stuff.

I jumped the starter and it started

ok it runs now you need to pull panels and start tracing the wires to find breaks shorts and the sort

The ignition switch was bad , it was switching ground but not power .
