:'(okay here we go again ,1st let me say i burped and burped till the anti freeze started coming out the top like it was spiitting it out .re added and did the same after cooling.someone said cross the wires if the fan dont come on it's the T-Stat well i crossed wired it turned the key on and the fan came on i recently just 3 days ago changed the thermostat switch assembly on the bottom of the radiator fan still does not come on..last time i had this issue i burped it and the fan came on.2 months ago i went on a early am before daylight ride on the way it ran fine fan came on drop temp less than a 1/4 of a mile home i looked down n my needle was almost in the red i said wth so the house was just around the corner before i got home the anti freeze was spewing out and now i cannot get the fan to work im just totally lost any expert help i would appreciate it i have replaced the T-stat and the radiator sensor switch in the last 2 days

Time to start looking at the water pump and making sure it's circulating water. Also are you sure you got the thermostat in right and not upside down?

Just an observation but it seems like both types of chinese 250's seem to have an abundance of over heating issues. Is it possible that some of them amount to miss-calibrated heat gauges? It really isn't that hard to take a engines temp. I have a harbor freight gauge you just point with a laser to pin point the aim. This case here seems to be one of really over heating with anti freeze spewing out. A gauge as I have would be very useful in determining where the fluid is circulating and how much the radiator is cooling. When my malibu took to over heating the garage used one to show temp drop from one end of radiator to the other. I don't think the chinese temp gauges are very accurate from all the posts I have read and again so easy to check.

John the problem most have with these scooters is simply air in the system. They are extremely sensitive to it. The slightest amount not only makes them overheat but also keeps the fan from coming on, it seems the thermoswitch just can't read properly with air in it.
It's extremely aggravating for sure for some but in my dealings with the linhai if one lets the engine sit until it's just plain cold and not just until the radiator cools off enough that you can open it then any air will work it's way to the top of the fill spout, exit to a degree through the cap to the reservoir tank like it's supposed to and the remaining air will be at the top when you open the cap.
Just last year a guy from Conway nearby replaced everything on the cooling system on his 250 and it would still heat up, it was at a shop over there. I visit this place some just to shoot the bull and watch them work on scooters and they called me and I came over.
They had the system drained and wanted me to burp it. Went through my process step by step and went and got some lunch. Came back and they said it was ready to check, put my hand on the engine and said, no it's not. The mechanic said one could open the radiator and not get burned and I said yep but it's not cold. Told him to leave it alone. Went shopping and bought some things and came back.
Opened her up, started it, put about 1/2 cup of coolant in it, filled the reservoir and rode it around the block, killed it and said don't touch it until late this evening and repeat the process just like I did.
He called the next morning and said it ran like a top and cool. He's never called again with a hot linhai.
I own two of these scooters, all with OEM waterpumps, thermostats and thermoswitches, have never had one get hot, never had the fan not work, so I figure I got the burping down.

One of the only things I will give credit to yamaha on their majesty is they do have a burp screw on top of the motor and all I did when I filled the engine was to take screw out and fill it till fluid came out put it in and it was good to go. Seems to be a good motor design but the bone heads who stuffed it in a scooter messed up big time. My malibu on the other hand is next to impossible to burp as the air screw is not on the high point of the motor.

Hey JR - hope this isn't a dumb question but couldn't find it anywhere. Can you explain your process for "burping" the coolant system. I have a Linhai 250cc scooter. I just had to replace a radiator hose and want to make sure I get this right.
