hello i have a 50cc peace sports scooter i just want to get it running to get rid of it. No spark all the lights work, horn etc.. I changed the cdi box and it still doesn't start. I pulled out the spark plug and no fire. Please help if anyone knows the steps or the values the parts should be to make the spark. thanks

OK we know the CDI is good so lets check out the other things and eliminate the possibilites one at a time:



Now with a fully charged battery get the old volt meter out and lets see if you're getting the required AC voltage on the black/red wire from the stator to the CDI and as you can see we need a good range so put the meter on AC at least to the 100 volt range and turn it over and do a voltage reading.

Then lets check the pick up coil to see if we gat a reading and thjis will be a very low AC reading. No need to check the two charging wires because we have no spark not charging issues. If you have good reading on these two wires then if the CDI you bought is good then we've got it narrowed down to one of two things:

(1) bad coil or the end sparkplug boot cap is not making good contact
(2) bad wire connections in the system not allowing proper voltage to pass

If you get bad readings on the black/red wire or the blue/white or red/white pick up coil then you've got to oppen her up and replace which one is bad.

Are you sure you have the killswitch on the run position. You can test it by taking the KillWire off the CDI and check if you then have a spark. Also check the ground wire from the frame to the MOTOR. Also check if it sparks holding the plug on the frame.
