BTW the thermostat should start to open at 176F and be fully open at 194F. Also the oil will always be hotter than the water and the fan has nothing to do with the gauge.

Measuring oil temp will not be an accurate way of knowing if the water system is running cool, different oils have different specs.

You need to check out the wiring on the gauge and the thermistor or what most people call the temp sending unit or sensor.

Of course you can order a exact replacement but you can also use this one and most of the times get it at a local auto parts that carries these parts.

This is one on Ebay and it is a Worldparts #201-1453 thermistor and don't ask me why they call it a fan switch on Ebay but it is not and Worldparts is owned by Beck/Arnley.

You will need to change the connector on the scooter to a female blade type connector. Very rare is anything wrong with the gauge other than loose wires but this thermistor is famous for being bad.

About the only way of safely testing the engine water temp is with a heat gun other than that you have to be smart enough and brave enough to remove the radiator cap with it still hot and put a thermometer in the water or put a inline accurate temp/gauge unit in one of the hoses and that can be done too.

Are you absolutely sure you have no air in the system, did you check the theromstat to see if it was any good? Just because it is new doesn't mean it's any good. What is the outside temp whare you are at? If it's hot like here the fan comes on pretty quickly.

THANKS FELLAS FOR ALL THE ADVICE, HELP, ETC.ETC., AS I STATED B4 I FOUND THE HEAD GASKT I PURCHASED IN 2009 (DATE ON PACKAGE), CHANGED IT YEST. MORNING AND BIKE RA FOR 1 HOUR 45 MIN. WITHOUT OVRHEATING AT ALL, 2DAY GONNA START CLEANING HER UP AND PUTTING BODY BACK 2GETHER. THANKS AGAIN I CAN'T WAIT TO RIDE AND SEE HOW SHE DOES.....DID I SAY THANKS

You replaced the entire cooling system when all along it was a head gasket and yet you reported no oil in the coolant and no water in the oil and no leakage of coolant around the head?

So you've had the scooter since 09 and just now fixing the cooling problems?

You sure don't get in a hurry do you? ;D

Thanks fellas for ALL the help, after changing radiator (2 years ago) waterpump, thermostat, fan switch, i finally decided on changing the head gasket (still have package, i purchased gasket June of 2009 and never changed it) once gasket was changed NO MORE OVERHEATING, rode bike for 2 hours yesterday, lol then out of all things my on/off switch shorted out on me, oh well thats a small thing after what i been through, where can i get new switch, also my remote starter is acting up had to take fuse out, really want to get that back working, but after 3 years of sitting under a tarp outside bike runs perfect.
