Hi, I have a 2010 Flyscooter Scout that isn't running. I bought it last year after taking my Motorcycle Safety Training course on a Yamaha Vino. I found the Vino too heavy and large for my frame to manage, so thought to get a smaller scooter. I live in a hilly city, where pretty much anywhere you want to go is going to have a considerable grade. We also don't have the most consistent or smooth pavement here. So I thought I'd try a Scout (super cute) if I could get it to run.
And I did... for two rides. I don't know how to drive a manual on a car, and in theory get it. That means that I'm still awkward shifting this thing even though it's clutch-less. I took it home, but then it died at a light and I couldn't restart it. Towed it to a shop that cleaned stuff up and fixed some wiring things and rode it home again. It was fun, but still hard to start and maintain.
Then the wind came, caught the cover and knocked the thing over. The handle is twisted 90 degrees, so...
I guess my question is, am I ever going to be able to ride this thing? It's not broken in (has less than 30km on it), is tough for me to start and keep running long enough to get the hang of, and now I have more repair issues to deal with. Does anyone have any advice to give me as far as keeping this thing running and start-able day after day, so I can get into scootering?
Or should I try and sell it for parts and find a used 50cc that's been broken in?

Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear of the blow over and damage. One thing is do not park it on the sidestand always on the center stand. On the sidestand since they are top heavy and leaning any wind will knock them over.
But to try and help you with the scoot, we need detail info on how it is acting what it does any sounds it makes etc.. Does it start and if it does when you twist the throttle does it bog or hesitate or die etc.. Different things cause different problems so it is important to be specific on what happens. Many come on and just say help it doesn't start, well the problem could be 10 different items that is causeing that. And for each there is a procedure to test to find which one is the culprit. But here again if you can do the testing you will save a lot of LABOR costs that a shop will charge you. Anyway Glad your on the forum and we are here to help and get you back on that scoot so you can enjoy it. Alleyoop

First off welcome to the forum. If your the kind of girl that is willing to dig in. With the help from us here you will do a better job fixing your scooter than the shop will. Please get a camera and take a pic of your scooter. Then give us the engine number, it is on the engine case behind the kick stand.
Tell us about do you own any tools and are you willing to try to fix your scooter?

I also welcome you to the forum! Guys here's the scoop on the Fly Scout; .justgottascoot.com/scoutreview.htm" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.justgottascoot.com/scoutreview.htmIt's a chain driven manual shift/no clutch scooter like the old Honda Cub which I have rode many a mile, uncle used to have one. Fly is no longer in business and I'll see about a manual and some engine inforamtion on it beside the spec given here. It's a 110cc scooter and doesn't look anything like the typical GY-6. Like all of you said with some more info I'm sure we can get it going. JR

JR, you are the man! Vertige welcome to the forum, a place that WILL get you going again. You've already been asked (by experts) so I'll step aside after saying this... nice ride you have there. A little unusual but has tons of class, I like it. Welcome to scooter college! M/C
