This week is spring break for kids in most schools in Arkansas and my grand kids and stepson's is no exception. So if any of you noticed I hadn't been around for the last few days it's because we all loaded up the tents, camping gear hooked up the old boat and headed to my childhood area of SW Arkansas and set up camp on beautiful Lake Greeson. It's a very large and deep lake in the edge of the Ozarks and also where the land starts to flatten out to the Red River basin of Arkansas. First day set up camp and get ready for early next morning Crappie fishing, they are getting ready to spawn and there were plenty of others who knew this too. I've been so busy in the last year that this is the first time my alumiweld with it's 70hp Johnson has been in the water for nearly a year. Knew she wouldn't be real peppy and would just need some good fresh gas and a good blowing out on the lake to run well. Never had a issue with her until this trip. Late that evening I unloaded her and idled her to the shore by our campsite and tied her up for the night. We all loaded up early the next morning and headed out. There are several floating marinas with supplies and gas on Greeson and before I could get to the first one carb shut totally down and another was sputtering badly, actually I had to keep applying the choke on and off to keep her going to I got to the marina. At the marina I pulled the plugs and as I thought one totally dry, no gas and figured I'd be spending the day cleaning out a gummed up carb, this is a 3 cylinder engine. But I decided to hit her with a good dose of seafoam and some good fresh high octane gas and see if I could get her to open up. Loaded everyone back up and set off. While applying the choke I could get that gummed up carb to pull some fuel and hit and after about 5 minutes and the strong solution of seafoam and fresh gas hit it and she opened up! Engine purring like a kitten and fishing trip for the day saved. Got on one of my favorite fishing spots and helped the kids and wife catch a good mess of crappie, even got a hook in the water myself a time or two. Fish and all the fixings were for supper that night. But old man weather starting acting up by Monday and yesterday we finished taking down camp in a very bad storm that even followed us home, YUCK! Tents and things are spread out right now in the yard washing off in the rain predicted for the next 4 days, can't even mow my out of control yard! But it was fun while it lasted and when I catch up a bit I'm heading to some of the local lakes here for some more of that springtime crappie fishing and the old boat a running well. JR

WOW, I do hope you and the family have many more fish tales this season. Enjoy it while you can, Hopefully the young ones will remember these times when they're older and continue the tradition. One time I caught a crappie that was this big---------------- Did ya tell them about the Jackalope you saw last year just around the bend in that cove? Joking aside, Savor the good times, No doubt The terrible teens are coming again.... Thanks for sharing a decent fish tale Things just don't get much better than than a weekend with those ya love. Eat, Drink and spend time with family. I can't imagine a better time.

JR, sorry to hear that the fishing was so crappy but I'm sure you and the clan still had a good time. Keep making those memories! They're worth more than any riches. M/C
