Hello madcollie, thanks for your replay, well as I tolled before I know nothing about scooters but some fixing is comon sence if I change oil to my car I shall be able to change oil to the scoot, now since the transmission belt was pulverized it came out in 100 pieces, and I could not see the belt # or length I went to this honda store and they gave me the wrong one , so I went to elgin ill were the worst service and store an ddid not have, so I finaly find out that there are 2 types of gy6 long case and short case so now I know I do have the long case gy6 engine , and I ordered it from ebay and I supposed to get it this friday but look like is going to be a piece of cake to install, now question I need to buy the foot rest for my schwinn valo 150 does any body know where can I buy these pieces I need all the foot rest and the floor....

Ok, I ordered the correct drive belt , I did installed it and find out that the clutch was not working properly it was like shaking or vibrating to much , so I ordered the clutch and the clutch Variator from ebay at a great price I think, and I did installed them today and is working fine now...

I have the same bike and same problem. Is there anyway that you could send me all the information for how you fixed yours. I need the exact specs of all the parts so I can buy them. Please help me!

Mine was gone when I opened it up. So, I bought an 835 and it was running okay once it was installed. (a little shaking) So, we put the casing all back on and hopped on. It wouldn't move very fast at all. So, I opened it back up and it had already destroyed the new belt. Do you think this is because I was supposed to get an 842 or possibly something wrong with the clutch or clutch variator? (a little piece broke off of one of the fan like parts of the variator while replacing the belt.)

Also, it was a 2008 150 Valo if that cues in to which belt I should get. And would you recommend a gates powerlink? Does it make a difference, what is better about it?

Hi jim and welcome to the forum, Well if your new belt also broke something is not right. Now did you take the clutch off and clean the clutch and pulley. When a belt melts and disenagrates pieces of the rubber and material get clogged inbetween the clutch pulley and causes it to lock up and not allow the Pulley to move in and out. You should get yourself an IMPACT WRENCH to be able to take the Variator and or Clutch off with with ease and things like the fins on the Variator will not get broken. If you have access to an Electrical outlet I would recommend an ELECTRIC impact wrench a good one and at a good price you can get at Harbor Frieght. As far as Belts go do not go for the cheapo types, they will break real easy. Don't forget there is a lot of heat created and a lot of very fast spinning going on pulling the Clutch Pulley. Gates and Bando are very good belts I personnally like Bando and have yet have one break on me. I put on a new one every 4-5k miles on it because belts do wear and effect speeds of the scoot. Now when you put the belt on and Variator where was the BELT sitting on the CLUTCH pulley? Near the TOP of the PULLEY or was it down between the Clutch pulley? Alleyoop Take a picture of your CVT so we can see how the belt sits in the Pulleys. Notice where the Belt is in the CLUTCH PULLEY, high on the clutch pulley.

Okay, I got information to move forward with. Do I need to replace the variator because of the broken fin or do you think it will be okay? Also, I read somewhere that if my back wheel is 12" or bigger an 842 will probably be the right belt. does that sound right? Also, we tried to replace it back in August. I can't remember what it looked like. I do remember that it seemed too tight.

The GY-6 long case which is what you have will use either belt, 835 = quicker starts less top end, 842 = slower starts more top end.

Well, I got it running. I took apart the variator and the rollers were all over, which explains why the last belt got shredded. I put them in place, reattached it and it runs. I opened back up to make sure nothing unheard was going on. It looked fine. It won't idle though. I think it is just because the gas sat in there for 6 months. So, once I run the gas through and get new gas, if it doesn't idle I will try fiddling with the idle. Thank you guys for all your help. I am so glad I found this place. I don't think I will ever have trouble fixing something on my scooter again.
