Oddly this engine can come with 3 different piston sizes. I'm thinking it's kind of like the belts, they use what is on the shelf that day? It comes with a 68,69 or a 70mm which is not very common, the 69mm piston makes it a perfect 257cc.
Todd if you can't find the 70mm piston I would upgrade it to ther BBK at Carlos's site on Ebay called Autotech. If you send him a message and mention this forum you can get a discount most likely that will take a bite out of it.

Jr that Link you put up he lists a 69 and 70mm piston. Oddly enough that Kit I got from Scrappy was the 70mm and the one on it was a 70. The only problem with the Kit that I got was the Wrist Pin was 18mm and I needed 17mm wrist pin. But after thinking about it I am thinking even though it is odd size I might want to stick with 70mm as should give me just a hair more power than if I went to a smaller kit.

Hopefully the Ebay will work with you but if he won't do a refund then look through his stuff and try to find you something else you can use. Selling the piston might be tough because not many people need one.
When I say this I mean you just don't see that many people who have to rebuild the top end of the linhai and lots of people just buy the complete top end cyclinder and all.
Hey it just dawned on me I may know someone who needs one, I'll get back.
Glad you found what you needed at the link I gave.

OK Todd just called another friend and member here Scooterran and he just recently went through the same problems sort of. He ordered a complete top end rebuild including the valve head assembly from Scrappy and just like a lot of people out there that don't know the linhai they sent him mixed parts.
So he ended up getting his from the same ebay supplier that you did and his was a 69mm head and piston. He just got her back running and doesn't need the piston and such.
I tried and again maybe they'll work with you.

Well the new Piston was here when I got home today. Got out the Caliper measured everything. ALL is good. Put it in the cylindar checked out good there made sure wrist pin fit and no slop. Now If I can get enough free time this week to get it all put together I may have a decent running scooter.. Work is nuts right now I could work 24 hours a day if I wanted to. So the last thing I want to do after a long day in the office is go out to the garage and work. Im pooped bout time for bed.

Well wonders never cease to amaze me. I had dropped an email to scrappy late last week just nice note FYI to let them know that they might want to post sizes of the piston and wrist pins on the Linhai top end rebuild kits. I got the kit almost 3 months ago so I was not expecting anything to come of it other than maybe help someone else down the road. They emailed me back and seems that that Actual LINHAI like my dads and the Yamahas since Linhai makes the motors for them use the 18mm wrist pin and that ended up being the kits he got. Well They got in new batch of 70mm pistions with 17mm wrist pins and has sent me one for the kit I ordered. So really since I ordered this kit so long ago I feel Scrappy is going way out of their way to make this right. Chalk one up for scrappy their customer service is coming up. :

That's awesome new Todd, things looking up! When you get finished I would sure put in a word in the vendor section and also maybe the student reviews on both vendors.

Todd, ScrappyDog sent me a head and valves, ( valves not installed ) cylinder and piston, Wrist pin, rings and a gasket set. I seated and installed the valves , and set the head aside. Tried to install the cylinder and piston and the wrist pin was way too big. Wow , now where do I go ! Talked to Jr. and he gave me the Big and Little sight on E-bay so I ended up giving them a call. I talked to Joel and he knew what I was talking about as I stated what he had on E-Bay. He knew exactly what I needed. They sent me the right cylinder , piston , rings , and the right wrist pin. The piston was a 69 mm but it was actually a 68.94 mm or something like that. But anyway, it worked. The wrist pin was a 17 mm and It was the right one. Maybe I could have used the block and the piston from scrappy dog but they sent me the wrong wrist pin. So I thought that the cylinder and piston were wrong . Maybe not. Maybe all I may have needed was the right wrist pin and I would have more power. I don't know. Anyone have a thought ? Did all I need was the right wrist pin ? Would the 70mm piston and cylinder work wiih a 17mm wrist pin work ? NO !!!!! The hole in the piston arm is for a 18mm or bigger wrist pin. What did I use from ScrappyDog ? Head and Valve set . What did I use from BigandLittleScooterparts.com ? Cylinder, Piston, Rings, Wrist Pin and gasket set. Now I'm back and running. Thank You J.R.

Yeah Big and Little cylinder was only 69mm with 17mm wrist pin. What I got from Scrappy was 70mm just like the one that was on my scooter only the wrist pin was 18mm like you said. I did not want to go down in size so so I opted to go find a 70mm piston with 17mm wrist pin so I could use the cylinder that scrappy sent me. I should be going soon.
I was working on getting it together today but I think I messed up the oil ring as I think the ends ended up over lapping a tiny big and looks like I may have boogered it up with the bottom of cylinder staring to slide it on. I have more around since having like 3 70mm pistons now. LOL
I had taken half day vacation today to put it together but of course I was elbow deep in oil when I get a call from work so I had to fire up my Work Laptop VPN in and Remote my computer at work and help get one of my projects out the door today. So maybe next weekend. Going out of town this weekend so will not get any time to get it going. :-(
