I'm posting this question that Chaisel32 asked me:
hi i have recently purchased a suzuki katana ay50 morini engine i also got the correct cdi/coil pack and regulator with it but no actual wiring as it was butchered after much research on here and google i have found a wiring diagram but have had no luck getting a spark i believe it uses the same cdi/coil pack as the honda sky with a 5 wire ducati regulator and needs the battery to run however no matter what i try i cannot get a spark i know it did once work as i saw it running but no luck now btw i have fitted the engine into a sym jet basix 50cc frame amazingly its a straight fit any help will be greatly apreciated am only after a spark to get the engine running on the most simple loom possible at the moment not bothered about electric start either as i wont be using it
The first thing to remember about this setup is the CDI is fed directly from the R/R not the stator or battery so you need to make sure that is right. But the does send a pulse signal just like on all conventional engines so you'll need to locate the single pulse wire from the stator to the CDi and make sure you have a a small amount of voltage (AC) when turning the engine over.
The diagram shows two wires from the stator one to the CDI and the other to the R/R . Since the CDI is fed from the R/R which in turn is fed by the stator you need to check and see if the stator is putting out also.
Other than that just like any other scooter the CDI has a kill wire and you need to make sure it's not grounded out or the kill switch is bad either.
Keep us posted we're here to help.
