You are so correct! This scooter is wired exactly like the Honda Fly and I ran into this for the very first time here: thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=classroomnchinese&action=display&thread=219Most scooters will fire and run without the R/R as part of the equation but not this one or the Honda Fly, the CDI gets it's voltage directly from the R/R. I think in that thread also the man found a place to buy this R/R also. Yes I can of thought by looking at this engine it had been run down the old dirt road. I believe I'd give her a good hosing down. Keep us informed we're here to help. JR

hi jr great news ITS ALIVE ;D ;D ;D i picked up the regulator which cost me £12 and some other bits and pieces today plugged in the r/r to the socket i showed you and bingo we have got a spark so buoyed up by this success i put fresh fuel and oil into the tanks refitted the spark plug and 3rd prod of the kickstart and amid a hugh cloud of smoke she burst back into life i was well chuffed but my joy was cut short when i discovered that the head gasket had gone and water was pissing out of the exhaust i'm not too worried tho as its a simple job to do and the spare parts costs peanuts the other goodies i got today were a full set of body work with only minor scuffs for £20 trouble is they are dark blue in colour and i want to keep the kaytana red but thats nothing a couple of hours preperation and some spray paint can't cure i will start a project thread in the other section so you can keep progress of how shes getting on thanks for all the help you and other members on this forum have given me without you help i would have given up on her ken

hi everyone i'm back after doing battle with the ay50 ive changed the blown head gasket and she starts a lot easier now just takes 1 or 2 kicks and away she go's anyway the problem i have now is if you give it a lot of throttle it smokes like a b*****d other symptoms are when you open her up it sounds like she's the engines running rich and if you open the throttle gently the smoke isn't so bad and the engine picks up smoothly any ideas folks

Need to get Alley tuned in here. Sounds like the carb/oil mixture is way to rich. I'm not familiar with adjusting the 2-stroke carbs.

Great that you have it running and running pretty good. Does the scoot inject the oil into the gas or do you mix the oil with the gas? Also what kind of carb is on there I would imagine a slider type with the Throttle Cable going into the top of the Carb(IS THAT THE Kind that is on there).
If so on the LEFT side there should be TWO screws that can be adjusted. One will be for the IDLE and one for the mixture. NOW the mixture can be EITHER a Fuel Ratio Mixture or AN AIR Mixture it all depends what side the Screw is on. IF a screw is NEAR the AIR FILTER side that is a AIR MIXTURE screw what that does is Let more or less air in. LESS AIR richer, MORE AIR LEANER. Turning that Screw CLOCKWISE RICHENS it allows LESS AIR in, COUNTER CLOCKWISE LEANS it allows MORE AIR in. If it is blowing a little smoke out at higher rpms you are getting to much oil for the amount of fuel SO you can turn that SCREW CLOCKWISE JUST A LITTLE on these types of carbs a little adjustment makes a big difference. When you are at IDLE is the back wheel SPinning? Maybe you have the IDLE to high, Also the belt should be DOWN in the Variator and up top on the Clutch Pulley when idleing. can you put up a Video or picture of it at IDLE. Alleyoop

well sir i thank you very very much i have been searching for a wiring diagram for this model scooter for over 3 months now hopefully i can get the engine i bought running now as i had no idea how to wire it up before as it is totaly different to everything else i have ever worked on. thanks again. Welcome kensacona and both scooters are nice. On the Malaguti we have the service manual for it the F12 and it's also a nice scooter! thescooterprofessor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ncmanuals&action=display&thread=389Now on this little suzuki of yours finding stuff on it is tough! Suzuki is stingy with manuals and wiring diagrams but I do have at least some help. I have a parts manual that has a wiring diagrm on this scooter but the problem is it's in Dutch! But it does give some pictured details of some of the electrical parts and I'll download it right off my server Now what you may have to do is strip this scooter down and take some more pictures and let us see the wiring and parts so we can see what you have an don't have and in the mean time I'll see if i can figure out the wiring diagram components and help. Also if you don't mind me asking how did this engine get so dirty looking? Looks like it's been a long dirt road! LOL JR
