Just do the same thing with both. Doesn't have to be way up high, but you want something on the end to keep dirt and such from entering.

Someone has to say this...so here goes
1 - Stop running your engine at 9000 rpm's....this accomplishes nothing and will break something (proper warm up is done at or near idle speed) 2 - Learn the proper procedure to adjust your valves.....do it....and leave them alone
Then you can go to work on the fuel delivery system, for your problem is somewhere between the intake manifold and your fuel tank. Something is plugged, gummed up, cracked, loose, loosing vacuum, or not vented.
You sound intelligent enough....find a tutorial on fuel system trouble shooting, and follow it....

Ellpee is right, sending units are brand and/or temperature range specific. When I installed a 100* to 300* VDO oil temp gauge in my scooter, I had to order the right VDO sender for it. One for a different temp range gauge would give false readings....Same results if I had installed a sender intended for a Stewart Warner gauge.
I may be wrong on this...but I don't think you can correct your problem by adding a resistor, for I believe it is the resistance dropping as the sender heats up, that causes the gauge to rise.

Any auto parts store will have a flush kit....they come with a full set of instruction. After reading the above posts, I have no doubt.... that for you.....the job will be a walk in the park

I would sooner think that your clutch pads need to be deglazed. When glazed, they will cause chattering on take off. You have to remove the cover you mentioned, then the clutch drum, then with a piece of sand paper, scuff up the clutch pads until all the shiney spots are gone. Clean, and lightly sand the drum before reinstalling. You can probably find a video somewhere on this procedure.

I'm a little late here...but, I think you cooked your sensor. Your temp gauge has a 12v feed, a ground, and a third connection that goes to sending unit.... 12 volts to sender would probably kill it. A multimeter, and this chart should help you figure which part is shot (sender or gauge)
Can't seem to add attachment....chart is generic for temp sender values.
Temperature (F)......Voltage.......Resistance (K ohms) 50*........................3.51..............58.75 104*.......................2.13..............16.15 158*.......................1.02................5.37 194*.......................0.60................2.80 230*.......................0.35................1.55
I left out a lot of the in between values, but you can see how numbers drop as temps rise.......hope this helps

Does anyone have an opinion on my kinked hose......I'm thinking this is the vacuum hose? Thoughts? That was a good find....ya see...you didn't really need any help.....just needed to look things over This, is a good example of why a comprehensive PDI is so important. Keep poking around...you might find a couple of more items in need of attention.

How can i throw out somebody from the house?...long story short & not getting into details (family member) i need ideas on this but i cant use the Cops, Lawyers or Violence. I need to do this in a very smart way. Its not my house. The only thing i have thought of is driving her crazy till she doesnt wanna live here anymore. any ideas? Since it is her house.....I have an idea for you.....put on your ' big boy pants'....and go find your own place to live.

Not new to motorized two wheelers, or forums....but a new kid to this forum.
Scooter is 2011 Jonway, bought new March 2012...4,690 miles at present time...and breakdown free (knock, knock) I'm a retired 66 year old who enjoys tinkering with anything powered by gasoline, or diesel fuel. Bought my first motorcycle in 1965, after graduating from high school. Now, besides the Jonway, I maintain, 2 Motorcycles, 3 cars, a pickup, a 30 horse diesel tractor, a Yamaha ATV, a Cub Cadet mower, and assorted chain saws, string trimmers, and a tiller......
I'll be lurking around here....reading a lot more than I'll be posting....but isn't that the way it's supposed to work?...Bob
