I have a 80cc kit and power cam on my Piaggio. I put a main jet # 80 last week, if you look the color of the plug, do you think it's ok!?? It run great, hit 80 km\h (50 mph). I want to buy a new carb 20mm soon, my original carburetor is realy hard to adjust idle, i need to screw the idle screw at maximun to have a idle not to slow....

It is LEAN you need a bigger MAIN JET and maybe a little bigger PILOT JET. Nothing wrong with your carb just need to upjet a little more. For it to IDLE and having the IDLE SPEED screw all the way in means it is not getting enough fuel from the PILOT JET. Did you adjust the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE screw OR is the one on your carb PLUGED UP? If so you can drill out the plug they are usually about 1/8 thick and the screw is behind it. If so then you need to turn that screw FIRST CLOCKWISE until it stops do not force it then turn it out 3 full turns. Try that and get back. Alleyoop

The carb was PLUGED UP! But i drill and the mixture screw was there!!! Now it open 2¼ ! Main jet is #80 can't find #82 Pilot jet #35 (I try #38 it was too rich and smell gas!)
I try jet #85, but the motor have some hesitation in acceleration plus the same idle problem i have today...
A vespa dealer said to me they put a jet #78 when they install a 80cc kit, sometime a #80. When i told i try a #85 he sait they put this on a 125cc and it was to big for my bike....
Now i don't know what i need to do??? Why i order a new 20mm carb...

Ok, looking at it more closely it is the WIDE OPEN that is LEAN. Alleyoop
So get a #85 and drop the Needle 1 notch. The pilot and IDLE can be fixed. Put a VIDEO up of how it idles Alleyoop

Ok, i think Alleyoop find the problem with my carburetor. Today, i screw CLOCKWISE the mixture screw at max and uncrew out 3 full turns as it said Alleyoop. The motor start run good at 3½ turns! In the piaggio shopmanual it's 1¾. Now i can adjust the idle screw and i can get a real idle speed.
Soon i'm going to receive my new 20mm carburetor, my original carb (18mm) i can't adjust the needle notch!
But for now, i leave the carburetor like this and check the color of the spark plug.
Thank's!

Almost there I see a LITTLE TAN on the electrode THE WHITE PART. Try to raise the NEEDLE 1 notch, MOVE THE CLIP DOWN 1 notch that will raise the needle. Alleyoop

That is the problem with my original carburetor, i can't adjust the needle! Why i order a new carb 20mm! Today i try a jet #85, run good, but lost 4 mph and the acceleration is not quick then before with jet #80!? I think the best is jet #82, but i can't find around here... !?

If your needle is the non-notched type then use a very thin (preferably brass) washer to raise it. Simply pull the needle out of the throttle body and slide the tiny washer over the needle and put it back in place, works the same as a notch spacing.

I do what JR said, i put a little thin washer brass to raise the needle. Mix screw need only 1½ turn see picture of the plug? It's hard to get tan color on white ceramic with 4 stroke motor... Jet#80. I have good acceleration, top speed 75~80 km\h (45~50mph). But when motor is realy hot, Light hesitation in acceleration. Thank's for help, appreciate! .

Here is a #82 main jet that you want: Take that washer out that you put on the needle it is NOW running really rich in the mid-range see the black on top. Reason it is running hot it is to lean with 1 1/2 turns on the fuel ratio mixture. Alleyoop carbjetkits.com/main-jet-99101-393-82.html

It was good before you changed the needle it was just your top end needed more fuel with the #82 it should fix that really good. Alleyoop carbjetkits.com/main-jet-99101-393-82.html

Thank's Alleyoop, Sombody today said to me a place they have a lot of jet in stock. If they dont have the one i need, i'm going to order on the web site you give to me. I try a jet #88 today, jet to see what it done!(see pics) Motor run good, but not quick. One thing of which I thought, when I go installed my new carburetor 20mm, maybe that jet #82 will not be good any more?
