Ok, here's the latest. I got carb all put back together and put it back on the bike. It would not start. It sounded like there was no compression. Took valve cover off again and found exhaust valve with no clearence. I set the valves again, bike started. Ran a minute or so and quit. Tryed to start and again sounded like no compression. Pulled valve cover off once again a nd exhaust was tight again. I loosened it up like about .025, bike started and was idleing for a few minutes and quit and same issue with the compression. When this thing first quit about a week ago I pulled the valve cover off and that exhaust valve clearence was around .050. So I guess I'll have to pull the head and see what's going on. Not looking forward to this.

What are you talk about .050 is that metric?
The valves on a 150cc and 175cc should be .004 inch intake and .005 exhaust...
Are you certain you have the engine at top dead centre on the cam sprocket?

Here 's a very good very clear and understandable video for setting the valves.
Peace, map

On the cam gear the big hole is up and the 2 small holes are in line with the head, TDC. The intake valve stays true at .004 and I set the exhaust at .005. When the thing quit last week and I looked at the valves the exhaust valve had a gap like .050 thousands not metric. I then start the bike it runs, quits, I look at the ex valve and it's tightened up again.

It sounds like the Jam nut is not holding the adjuster at it's setting once you adjust it? You are setting them with the scooter cold right? I would check that adjuster on the rocker arm to make sure it's not stripped or something?

Last night I got frustrated and left it alone. Today I take valve cover off and sure enough exhaust valve tight. This time I set the valve at .006 and turned crank over with kick starter to see if it would lock up. I kept turning it about 6 times and no valve lockup. I tightened the crap out of that nut. Put cover back on and bike started. I let it run for about 10 minutes. So maybe it's fixed we'll see. I tried adjusting the a/f not the idle adjustment. Doesn't seem to do much screwing the thing in or out. Had to turn idle screw pretty far down to get it to idle at 2000. I turned the a/f about 2 turns from stop then turned it in a little at a time and it seems like it picked up a little rpm at a complete turn in of the a/f screw.

Great, sounds like it is coming together for you. I know sometimes it is just frustrating you mess with the Carb to try and get it running right, But if the Valves are off adjusting the Carb is just trying to compensate for the other problem. Then once you adjust your valves you have to re-adjust your carb. Good Job Alleyoop

I got everything put back together and took bike out today a few times around the block. It's running as good as it was before this issue. So I guess the bottom line to this whole thing was that exhaust valve adjuster.

Great fljohnboy and yes those dang things sometimes can be touchy especially the exhaust and it's not the easiet to get to either.
