Hello all, glad to have been routed to this already informative forum. It's my first Scooter, & Trike. I work at a school district in Texas, who is open to allowing me to teach students how to convert gasoline powered vehicles/machinery over to all electric drive. These projects, and others can be seen on my Photo/Video Blog at: .flickr.com/mbarkley/sets" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.flickr.com/mbarkley/setsI actually wanted an Electric Scooter, when I found this cool looking Trike, and since there are none of these being produced at the moment with electric drive, I decided to purchase the 300cc I.C.E. model. Maybe someday, we'll convert it over to electric drive in class.

Awesome and welcome to the forum. What part of Texas do you live in? Have relatives in Texas and my father is buried there. JR

Very Cool, I did see one scoot that they put on a Alternator on the Flywheel Side to generate Electricity to help drive the Electric motor. Alleyoop

A formal welcome to the forum(s)! Great to have another member with a tilting RT, especially a fellow tinkerer/tweaker/modifier(the list goes on...). I have had my MC_D300TKB since August of last year and have had to deal with numerous "challenges". I really like the idea of convertin' to electric so please keep that dream alive-at least once we've got the bugs out of this thing!

Bonham???
Don't you just hate what they did to the courthouse. When I was a kid they remodeled it and in my opinion ruined it. BTW, I was born in Sherman and my folks live in Lannius.
Anyway I love Fannin County, spent a lot of time there as a kid, I plan to visit the folks in a couple months back there.
I'd love to stop by and see your electric conversion projects.

Here's a short video I took today driving the Trike after work in Bonham: Here's the trike on a test run, between Bonham & Ector: Look me up at the school administration building when you get into town. The Electric Truck is there, the Electric Farm Tractor is at the FFA teacher's farm.

Ah Sherman Tx, close to Lake Texoma and the Red River. Big dam at Denison before you get to Sherman. Been there years ago and the red river winds down eastward and is the Texas/Oklahoma border for miles all the way to Texarkana and in a small stretch is the state line border between Texas and Arkansas. I grew up in SW Arkansas about 30 minutes from the Red River. My family and I have fished this river a lot, big catfish and plenty of eat you up bull gnats.
What I remember a lot about going to Sherman in the late 80's and early 90's when I worked construction there is when you were going between Denison and Sherman I would always see the historic sign of the birthplace of Dwight D Eisenhower. My dad and grandparents always admired him.
I was trying to remember if it was the year 89 or 90 when the bad floods hit the whole south. I was in Sherman working and that evening I was getting ready to go home for the weekend and even with the dam gates wide open the Red went over the dam. All of the Oklahoma area along the Red was flooded, highways under water even as far as Texarkana the red was out. Hwy 71 which crosses the Red was shut down the little town of Fulton near Texarkana by Inter. 30 was evacuated and 30 closed. Down below Shreveport La. liked to have washed away.
What added to Shreveport's misery was the fact that 4 dam lakes in SW Arkansas were wide open and adding just that much more water to the Red. I managed to get out of Sherman and had to go way up in north Oklahoma cut back to west Arkansas and then back down to my home, drove about 6 extra hours just to get home. I haven't seen it flood like that since.

Yeah, the home Dwight D was born in has a historical marker, been there. Of course he was not raised in Sherman I don't think.
Of note is that Sam Rayburn was from Bonham or someplace nearby. He built his library there. For those of you who don't know who he was, he was the speaker of the house during WWII 1947–1949 and 1953–1955.
Texomaev, have you checked your speedo against anything like a GPS or a radar gun, somebody following you in a car ect? I don't know about the trikes but the Chinese scooters are not known for accurate speedos, they are often of 10-15 %.

Will do a speedo test with its GPS as soon as the rain subsides.

After that check your phone against a trusted vehicle. Speedometer test, shows the Trike's speedometer to be aprox 5 mph fast. Wish there were a means of calibrating it. But it's something I can live with anyhow.

5mph fast at what speed, the faster you go the further off it will probably be.

I paid closer attention at 55mph (GPS/Phone Reading), but glancing at it from time to time in town seemed to be about the same as well. I suppose there is no means of calibrating the on board speedometer. Not to big a deal, as I think I'll be ok, especially since it's fast with regards to getting a ticket. I like to drive under the limit anyhow.

What the easiest fix I've heard of is to install a bicycle speedometer on the scooter. Some of the better ones are easily calibrated for proper tire rotation.
