2008 Linhai 300 ive replaced 2 thermostats drain fluid 2 times even put water wetter in this last time and i'll be damned if it still dont run hot the fan comes on but wont drop the temp i just dont understand i bought it 2 months ago.for 2399.00 im ready to sell it for $2000.00 id be very happy if i could just get it to not run HOT^ and for the fan to drop the temp like it should HELP....HELP....

Someone said i have air in the sytem ,well how do you get the air out.also what is the best anti freeze to put in it i live in florida and with the humidity n heat here its going to get hot here please help

Air will cause this ands sometimes it's a real PITA to get out. Here is my way of burping it and it has always worked for me:

Some have had to do this 2 or 3 times but have always had success. Keep up posted.

A 50/50 premix coolant like Prestone is best for water cooled scoots. Many of the auto parts stores carry their own brand of coolant and they will work fine. Like JR says, burping the system is critical to proper performance.

Anyone tried/opposed to running straight water (or maybe a 90/10 mix) and an additive like hyperlube/water wetter/purple ice? (to add lubricants needed for water pump.)

I know that type of cooling is required if you race (so you don't mess up the track w/antifreeze in the event of a wreck.) If you're not in freezing temperatures... think that would help.. after he gets the burping done? Been considering this myself.

Antifreeze does more than keep things from freezing. Antifreeze mixed with water to a 50/50 mix will give the optimum protection against freezing and also raises the boiling point of water which is good for hot running engines. Antifreeze solution also has rust and corrosion inhibiters to protect the inside of the engine and the cooling system. It also has lubricants for the water pump seals. I believe the antifreeze solution is also capable of transferring more heat out of the coolant than straight water.

Well straight water actual runs cooler than an antifreeze mix; check out some of the reviews on different radiator products and you'll see what I mean (here's one: See chart at below .turbomagazine.com/features/0703_turp_cooling_system_additives/viewall.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.turbomagazine.com/features/0703_turp_cooling_system_additives/viewall.html )

The antifreeze does raise boiling temp though, but ideally I'd rather lower overall temp than rely on/have a higher boiling point.

The additives add everything you lose from not having antifreeze.. the anti-corrosives, lubes, etc etc, so not really concerned about that. Really the only benefit antifreeze is giving me is lowering freezing temp and raising boiling temp. If I can start out by running cooler out the gate though.. that wouldn't (theoretically) be a problem. .. not having an increased boiling point that is. I know of guys at the track (back when I was involved in recreational organized racing) would run water/additive just for that purpose alone (well.. it was required too.. no antifreeze allowed.) NASCAR is required to as well as far as I understand.

Ummmm. It would be interesting to see how much of a difference there is in cooling between antifreeze and the water/additive package. Any cooling advantage might be erased when you have to drain the cooling system for winter time and then refill with antifreeze if you want to ride in cold weather. Certainly might be a benefit for our Southern riders.

Hey Yoster you can give it a try and then tell us how it went? But the only accurate way of knowing is to replace the Chinese gauge with a real good digital one. You could buy the set up test with the 50/50 mix and then drain and water only, even 5F means a lot in the summer.

well i did everything the way jr said do..i guess it's me don't know did the jr test after filling it up with 50/50 and let it ifle n shut off for i did 2 hours stone cold engine craked it up it got to the 1/4 mark n the fan kicked on n dropped it cold..then the ultimate test on the road in 94 degree heat rode 10 miles before i got home it was a fraction shy of HOT fan was running but wasn't dropping the temp very fast matter of fact it didn't start dropping till i pull into the garage at home but very slowly.damn if i know why ive had the linhai 300 jes 2 months 406 miles on it the people i bought it from says its not there issue dont buy from riders wholesale there asswipes.okay any more idea .looks like im gonna have to find some professionals to fix it i see $$$$$ comming out my pocket

okay here's what i done i ran in idle as it warmed up and just before the fan kicked in it started like gurgling and once the fan started it bubbled a lil then the antifreeze went down so i kept adding to it gradually but each time before the fan came on it made that bubbly gurgling effect after doing this awhile i ran it around town island is about 13 miles it went to a lil bit of the middle range on the meter but no more than above that of course that was only at speeds of about 35-45 mph ...should i continue to add anit freeze to it when it goes down untill it dont go down any more .i really appreciate all the help

Yes!!! You'rer on the right track!! Gurgling = air! Let it cool again bone cold and then open and see if it needs fluid if so then again fill ,start it let it warm, add if necessary and then ride around the block a few times. Make sure your reservoir tank is about 2/3 full when you put the radiator cap on and then ride it some more. Little by little the air will work it's way out!

Any good quality name brand 75/W 90/W will do.
