That's what I was thinking in my earlier post. Takes the place of the headlight switch and turns on the headlights automatically when the engine starts. Just was waiting for verification from the OP. Yes, exactly right. Dave

Thanks to all who posted. I have a much better idea of what is going on in the No Longer Mysterous Black Box. Whether the relay is electro-mechanical or electronic I couldn't tell, could not hear or feel a thing. The wire tracing is a project to be left for another day as there is much to do. Found one part that I believe is the correct one for $7.30 and another $48.00 More fun than buyin' a used car. Dave

Here are the voltages to the Mysterious Box. All were read with the green wire as ground an was verified that it was a good ground. Black=+12.1 VDC Engine stopped, key ON.> Key OFF=0 V.> Engine running +12.8 VDC @ Idle 1700rpm Brown/White=Engine not running>Key ON or OFF=0 V. Running 1700 - 2500 rpm= +12.8 to +14.0 VDC. Yellow=8.5 VAC As far as the Blk/Whi wire and the kill switch/ignition switch I will verify that later but for now I think the Lance Milan 150 diagram is accurate in that part of the wiring. The seat well will have to come out. John, I'm not sure if I undestand your last post but am going back to read it again right after I post this. Dave

Cruiser, I see your comments as a good possibility. Sort of agrees with post #19 in this thread.

Alley, Maybe that's it. I discounted it because I have 6 pin regulator and 3 phase power. Dave

I agree Alley. Any thoughts on how I can locate another Box. What would you call it. Don't think I'd get much good Info googleing Mysterious Black Box. Probably something about aliens. No doubt the name for the box is some thing like "Regulated Rectifier Controller" Gotta love the Chinese name for things.

Don't have a good picture of the CDI on hand. It is similar to the one you posted except it is one 2 pin connector and one 4 pin connector. 1 black wire to 2 pin connector and the other 3 wires to the four pin conector. the wires in your pictures look like brown, black, yellow and green. My CDI: black/white, Black/Yellow/, Green, Black My Mysterious Black Box: black, green, brown/white, yellow

CDI Wires: black/white , black/yellow, black, green No headlight on/Off switch, just Hi/Lo/Pass switch I am reluctant to run the scoot with the mysterious box unplugged again. I did in the past, it ran ok but the lights went out. Just not sure if I could damage anything running it unplugged. If there is no other way to determine what the black box is I will do it again. If you could point me to a diagram with a HI/Lo Pass Switch I like to see how its done. All the diagrams I have are Hi/Lo only. The box is encapsulated in epoxy of some type so maybe a relay.

Not trying to be difficult here as I did ask for help. The scoot is running. I am the curious type and am trying to to create an accurate wiring diagram of my scoot. The DC CDI does indeed Have +12v going to it. it is mounted in the engine compartment section. The Mysterious black box is mounted in the front headlight section and also has +12 volts going to it. the wire colors are: green, black, yellow, brown/white. The Picture is not clear. The Mysterious black box (MBB) may be a cdi but is not being utilized as such. This is a Znen zn150-T9 and the closest diagram I have is a Diagram for a Lance Milan which I previously downloaded along withy many others. (Thanks JR) from this forum. Again, thanks for any ideas and comments. Dave

Thanks to all who responded. The Scoot has a two connector DC CDI utilizing 4 wires. Chihuahuas, I think you got it. Headlight controller. Anyone have a diagram of Pass swich/controller? Also Where can I buy one? Below is a revised version of my original post for reference. My original post was poorly written and probably confusing. Again, thanks to all, Dave Mounted in the area behind the headlight is a Black Box with a four pin connector. Mating connector comes from main harness and and has four wires Red, Yellow, Green, Brown/White. Box measures 1 3/4 x 1 x 7/8 inches. P/N on box: x110530 My Question: What does this box do and where can I buy one? Thanks for your help. * Model: ZN150T-9 ZNEN Year 2011 * Engine bn157qmj (150cc) * Headlight is on only when engine is running. "Pass" which will also turn on Head Light when engine is not running. (Head light has High/Low and Pass switch) * DC CDI (4 Wires) * 3 phase stator; 6 wire Rectifier/Regulator * Kill Switch grounds pulse from Pick Up in stator to CDI to stop engine. * Instrument Panel Indicators: Left and Right Turn ,Hi Beam, Cell phone, Brakes. Also, Fuel gauge, Speedometer, Tachometer,Voltage Meter.
