Thanks for the info now we all know the 157QMJ parts are not interchangeable.
Here is a good video putting in the cam and chain and lining it up PART1 and in PART2 tightening the head up and chain tensioner and the side is open to see how it all works. Alleyoop

Bummer!! That is a shame, you were almost ready to rock and roll, Also Jmi when tightening the 4 bolts you go CRISS CROSS just nice and snuge then you go back again CRISS CROSS and tighten them up NOT TO MUCH you don't won't to strip anything. Then put the chain tensioner on then adjust both valves to .004 inch put the cover back on FILL IT UP WITH OIL put the spark plug in, Exhaust back on and carb back on and Fire the sucker up.
QUESTION DID HE SAY THE HEAD IS THE SAME AS THE HEAD FOR A 157QMJ motor or is it DIFFERENT so we all LEARN SOMETHING?

Check that last ring and look at the gap on the ring it may not have a gap and will not squeeze to get it past the lip. Alleyoop

Once you get it all timed and bolted down Don't forget to adjust the valves both to .004 inchs AND FILL IT UP WITH OIL. Alleyoop

Some times you can just use your hands to squeeze them in the grove and work the piston in the jug. Also make sure you space out the GAPS of the rings around the piston You do not want any of the ring gaps lined up with each other. Or you can use a clamp.

HAHAHAHA, WOW! Jmi actually sucked the sucker out of there AMAZING. But I have to say your rings look good and also the sides of the piston are not scored so yes you can get away with a NEW piston rings wrist pin and clip and a new head.
Now if your going to try and get one from a local shop be smart and TAKE the PISTON and HEAD with you so they can make it up. There are so many that you can get the wrong one, this way you will be assured it will be plug and play. And now once you put it all back on MAKE SURE you line up the piston to the top and check the TIMING mark on the FLYWHEEL on the FIRST LINE before the "T" and then put in the CAM ligned up and CHAIN and then recheck that it did not move the flywheel off its mark. Look at the RINGS on the piston are any of them broke or missing parts on the rings? I am still concerned about the MISSING VALVE HEAD it has to be around there someplace Look on the floor when you took the head off. Alleyoop

Jmi, So your saying the two parts are a new piston, rings, wrist pin and clips and a whole new head right? That would be the minimum BUT took at the walls of the JUG where the piston RIDES up and down. If they are scored then you need the whole top end. If the inside walls are not scored then you can get away with a new piston, rings, wrist pin and clips and a new head with the valves and springs. Alleyoop
