Good, hold the spark plug on the engine or valve cover. Sparking on the exhaust well that is attached to the frame. If it sparks on the motor then it is just being flooded. Can you put up a picture of your carb? Alleyoop

Good, you got spark from the engine.
Ok you have one of those carbs that has an AIR RATIO screw that is the one on the RIGHT as your looking at it. The middle screw is your IDLE SPEED SCREW turning it Clockwise raises the idle and Counter Clockwise Lowers the idle.
The Air Ratio Screw on the right Turning it Clockwise RICHENS up the Fuel(LESS AIR) Counter Clockwise LEANS it out(MORE AIR).
Since you said the Spark Plug is WET TURN the Air Ratio Screw Counter Clockwise 1/4 at a time as you try to start it. Alleyoop
