Some of us,old timers, remember 35 cent gas--regular was 28 and premium was 32 for a long time here--then the so called shortage happened and away we went---heck,the tax on a gallon here in Tennessee is over 40 cents ,so we will not ever see 35 cents again--and the Governor is being pressured to raise the gas tax to repair some roads -- I can't wait.....aaarrrgggggg

Flintstone I thought you were older than that? I can remember 25 cent a gallon gas and my parents griping about that being too high! In fact on some Sundays when we went to Texarkana to see my grandmother one could catch them in a price war down there and get it at 19 cents plus your oil checked and windshield washed! Those were the days!

Hey JR and cyborg--Some areas did have cheaper gas than Tennessee at the time it was .32/.28 ,like in St.Louis ,where we lived for 38 years before moving back to Tennessee...Gas was .32 and .28 in Missouri, and across the river in Alton , Illinois were the refineries for Phillips and Shell oil and others and around there it was common to find premium for as low as .28 ,Clark oil sold only premium, and when little "fillin' stations" would have a neighborhood price war,it could go down to 15 cents---BTW,diesel fuel was only .15 a gallon back then,so a Mercedes or any diesel car was very desirable for that reason--not so now when diesel is so high--which I don't understand, why it is so much higher than gas--so I am not looking for a diesel scooter--happy trails, fflintstone
