My wife has a Flyscooters Il bello and the small tiny light in the headlight and tailight (and gauges lights) come on when you turn on the key. Then of course, the main headlight (hi and lo beams) come on when it's running.
This non-running clone I bought, I turn on the switch and no lights come on. Is that normal?
The Il Bello I notice, has a rectifier with a bunch of wires (like six+, including 3 yellow wires)
The clone, has a rectifier with only four wires. If I jump the yellow wire on it, then the little headlight and taillight and gauges come on.
So school me...do SOME scooters have the lights come on when you turn it on and do others only come on when it's running (can't get the clone currently running due to fuel issues)?

Also, again, there's these 3 wires (two green grounds, and one yellow) not connecting to anything. Should there be something here? That yellow goes to the rectifier, stator, choke circuit, but will also power on the lights as aforementioned.

Ok the Bello has a 3-phase stator either a 11 or 12 coil type. The lights you mention that come on with the key are the tail light and a little running light in the head light and run off of the battery with the key on and like most scooters the headlights run with the engine running which is tied off of the rectifier, all good and normal.
The other clone scooter with the 4-wire R/R is a single phase 6 or 8 coil stator and lights only work with the engine running, that is correct. Do not jump the wires you mentioned with it running or you'll blow the R/R.
The three wires you have circled appear to be mirror light wires. Some scooters have little running lights on the mirrors and if this is what they are then they will only be hot when the engine is running. One should be a ground and the other two hot with the engine running.

Thanks a ton JR! That explains a lot!
Now to get the carb/fuel pump issue resolved here, I can hope to get it running and be sure the lights come one!
