Hi Everyone. Im Roger and I own a 2002 Manco Hornet chinese scooter.. when i bought it, it ran fine for a few days and then while i was riding i accidentally hit the kill switch and now the bike refuses to start.. it was also occassionally hard starting before this happened.. the whole engine was rebuilt and is brand new along with the plug coil, cdi.. yet still no luck.. even with a jumper .. can a bad battery cause this?? it holds a charge but when i crank it it dies.. if i hook it up i get full power but no start.. any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks.

Have you adjusted the valves on it? I am assumeing this is a 50cc 4 stroke motor on it. If so adjust the valves to .003 inchs TOP INTAKE VALVE and the BOTTOM EXHAUST VALVE to .004 inchs.
Then if it still will not start, check the fuel flow to the carb. TAKE THE FUEL HOSE off the CARB and put in a container and crank the motor over, if fuel streams out and stops when you stop cranking good.
Then take the VACUUM HOSE off the PETCOCK get a paper cup and put a tespoon of gas in it and squeeze to make a point and pour it down the VACUUM HOSE SO IT FLOWS down directly into the INTAKE. Connect the chose again and crank it.
IF IT FIRES and dies then we know your carb is not allowing fuel to be sucked out due to it being dirty and or clogged PILOT JET AND PASSGE. Time to take the carb off and clean it. GET a SPRAY CAN OF CARB CLEANER they come with a long thin straw. Take the PILOT JET OUT and CLEAN it and make sure you can see daylight through it. THEN stick the straw into the hole where the JET SCREWS in and spray, The spray should come out by tiny pilot jet fuel outlet holes by the butterfly. Then while you have it out turn the FUEL RATIO SCREW clockwise until it stops and then turn it out 2 1/2 turns, now put the carb back on and make sure no leaks clamps nice and tight and also the AIR BOX TUBING ON THE CARB. Now see if it will start. Alleyoop

Since you say you rebuilt the motor, I would re-check your timing. Bring it up to TDC as if your going to adjust the valves and check to see where the CASE POINTER is pointing to on the FLYWHEEL. Just because you align the CAM SPROCKET does not mean it is TIMED you could be off 1-2-3 links off on the chain. I link off is like 10% of timing OFF one way or the other. Alleyoop
