Right before I purchased my scooter the previous owner put in a new cooling system being roketa's are known to over heat.. Recently our land keeper was moving the wheel barrow out of our storage and hit my scoot knocked It over and it feel and got stopped by our storage wall... Anyways.. My cooling fan doesn't start now when I put my key in the ignition, or when I turn off my scooter it doesn't stay running like it use to?? Does anyone know what could've come loose? Broke? Or where to begin to look to a problem? I propped my scoot up on the middle stand and looked at the fan and all that but nothing looks broke, so I'm thinking maybe a loose wire. Like always any help is appreciated.
I live in AZ.. It's not too hot now and I've been riding it this way for a couple days my heat gauge hasn't went anywhere close to the red or anything... But I'm worried for A couple months from now when the heat comes back I don't want the scooter to have cooling problems.
Thanks,
Ian

i will say trace the wires back from the fan to find your problem if it is not a factory fan install that is the only way to find out how it is wired

Without tracing back your posts I don't know what you have. I have a 2008 Roketa (Importer) MC 54 250 a vertical 244CC engine, YY250T, and the fan never runs till heat comes up a bit. But after a ride if I shut the key off the fan stops even though still warm. .

Mine always turns off once I actually turn my key all the way to the left just like yours, but when I still had it turned to the right and just killed switched it my fan would always stay on. Same as when I just just turn my key to the right on position my fan would start right up... It had been in the 20's/30's here at night and in the 50/60's in the day... Maybe it's not hot enough? Or my engine is still really cold from the night before that it doesn't reach the right temp. But even when driving Long distances like 15-20 miles it still didn't come on... I will follow the lines on my day off Friday and follow up with a comment on here.

With those temps the fan will not come on. The coolant temp must reach at least 167F for the radiator thermoswitch to close to activate the fan on either engine.

When someone says that work has been done and something is doing wrong,it is a clue that someone got something wrong..maybe the wiring is backwards? worth checking the available wiring diagram that JRR has made easy to find on here..my scoot always surprises me when the fan comes on-lol--good luck, good riding, fflintstone

Am I understanding right that you are saying the fan ran 100% of the time the key was turned to anything other than off? If so, it sounds as if the previous owner hard wired the fan to some live 12 volt feed, and bypassed the thermoswitch. If that's true, only tracing the wire will find where he spliced it.

Yeah it always ran when the key was turned to anything but off... I will have up trace the wires on my next day off and figure it out.

How does one jump the fan to see if it works?

Trace the two wires that come out of the fan to the first connector you come to. Should be on the right side of the scooter. Pull connector apart then apply 12 volts DC to one of the wires that go to the fan and jump to ground the other wire. You can either use a battery or another 12 volt power supply.
