Also ! I just niticed. Looks like you have a CF moto engine better known as the CN 250 (Honda clone) instead of a Linhia (Yamaha clone) is your cylinder more upright instead of laying forward (almost horizontal) ? Am I correct ? I might be totally wrong. It might even be a GY6 150 ?

I was just messin with ya cause you were takin your time getting back with an answer . How many ponys you think you are puting out now ? I would soup up her engine with the bigger 300 (290 cc) head if this whole scooter / smaller motorcycle thing in my family wasn't primarily for getting more than twice the miles out of a gallon of gas. I have had fast bikes with bunches of head work done and first thing I noticed is speed ain't free. And once they were made to go like hell, you noticed it real quick they gobbled gas.

Shoot, if you worry about mpg get a 50cc and don't touch it or get a bicycle(PEDAL POWER) and not a penny for gas . Alleyoop

If you live in a big city where your whole life can have a top speed of no more than 45 MPH tops. A 50-70 cc could do this if the rider is lets say not over 225 lbs.. But if you live in an area where it is semi rural and you have to take a 55-65 mph speed limit two lane hwy. just to get to a convenient store and anywhere else you might go a 50 cc will shorten your life span. And the people around here (Tampa and 100 miles around it) are sociopaths so forget about the bike lane thing. They simply do not care if they kill you being neglegent in the driving of their car. Weather it texting or just driving like a pushy asshole. So its 250 cc and up for me

BTW, The .008 on both Valves is working just fine. Her Scoot has the same power as before with no loss. Just took a 60 mile round trip cruise yesterday without so much as a hickup. She loves it. It was worth fixing. Glad I did now.

Well if you set them at .008 I am sure they are clicking away almost like a diesel That is a pretty wide gap but hey whatever. Ride Safe Alleyoop

"Sleight" clicking never hurt a valve. But being to tight sure has (it can burn an angle surface=leak). Not to mention I now have an audible indicater . When there is Zero ticking tells me they (valves) are starting to tighten up again. May want to go in and adjust them again at that time. But I know it won't be next week now !

The linhai will tighten up again around 2500 miles and then may go to the 8k mark without any issues, done mine again at 17k but they weren't tight then. I've never adjusted the intake valve and it is on the OEM setting of .004. Adjusting the exhaust valve at .008 will only buy a few miles and the intake will always tick and make excessive noise at .008.
This engine as it breaks in runs better and stronger it's very noticable by the 5k mark and the valve adjustment settles down as it gets more miles on it.

Still motoring along doing 86 mile days going to Gainsville for school. This thing gets more than 70+ miles per gallon real world consistantly !! Girlfriend says it gets 75-80 mpg . But I think shes being a bit optimistic.

But I think shes being a bit optimistic. They were snotty, And so much as called me an idiot for even thinking in that direction and the valve gap is working Great ! Jeff at Mudville Scooters was right. .008 on both valves works great. Now if you just like to play with the scooter all the time , then go'a head and adjust your valves every oil change. Who am I to deny you your misery . Me , I like to ride mine once in a while.
Read more: scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=200cc&action=display&thread=55853&page=3#ixzz2BqwWDA4tI don't see anywhere here that anyone called you an idiot for what you did to your girlfrend's scooter? The only thing that was mentioned here was that you to adjust them by the manual from the people who made the engine who probably know a lot more about the engine they built than Jeff at Muddville scooters. They were snotty and the .008 valve gap is working Great ! Now if you just like to play with the scooter all the time , then go'a head and adjust your valves every oil change. Who am I to deny you your misery . Me , I like to ride mine once in a while. He says hes done 50 Linhias like this and not a one has had any problems, and I believe him.scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=200cc&action=display&thread=30794&page=1If you'll take note the thread by my friend Rubicontx was started in 2008 and BTW his scooter is still running very well. I like a lot of people believe him and the manual on how to adjust the valves. Let's see I've adjusted mine 3 times changed the oil 8 times and didn't even need to adjust them once just checked them and she's got 12k on her so I've dang sure be riding some, made 4 trips to Dallas and back trouble free over 800 miles round trip, once in 100F+ weather. Get 70+ MPG also and adjust it by the manual specs. I also weigh 260lbs. Lets not close our minds to new ideas like the other forum. No one closed heir mind they just didn't agree with you, there is a difference. Now who's being snotty? Got something to say about the folks over here say it here don't badmouth people elsewhere. Seems you think no one from here reads the entertaining squabbles there. JR
