So I've talking to different ppl discussing how to make my 150cc chaun adventure scooter faster. One guy said that in the variator there's a washer and if I would take that washer off id achieve a greater top speed. Is there any truth to this or is it a myth? Also to my knowledge if you changed the slider weights to be slightly heavier I'd also get greater speed but 2 ppl I talked said it slowed down their scoot. Could that be accurate? Thanks.

Your 2 PPLs they probably have 50cc scoots. The 150s do not have a washer in the Variator and also NOT all 50s come with a restricted Variator either. So If I where you do not take any advice from those 2 PPl they do not know what they are talking about.
If you want straight POOP and from people that know just ask what you want and we will tell you what you need and or need to do to achieve your goals(PROVIDED THEY ARE REASONABLE). You can only do so much without haveing to build the motor up. Alleyoop

Alley hit the nail on the head and if those people slowed their scooter down with sliders then they put the wrong weight in. The key element with sliders is knowing the weight of the rollers you have in there now. The ONLY way to know that for sure is to open it up and weigh them.
Then depending on what you're wanting to do slders and CVT adjustments can give minimal gains with low cost but like Alley said if you're wanting larger gains you'll need more horses under the hood.
But with CVT and carb modding one can get a nice little boost for a few $$$$.
