Use a good quality socket that fits good because these Chinese nuts are sometimes hard to get loose the first time.

Finally able to replace the variator fan today, thanks to my buddy's impact wrench. While I had the fan off I also slipped off the variator and opened it to inspect the weights. All the weights looked good (no worn spots) but there was grease inside where the weights were. Isn't that suppose dry in there? Can someone confirm that, please.
If you viewed the pics on the link I posted, you'll recall there was some grease build up inside the CVT housing at the variator end. I'm guessing that grease was "spewed" out from inside the variator (were the weights are). That's the only place it could have came from.

The Chinese put grease if that's what you want to call that stuff in the variators and yes that is what the mess is in your CVT cover and area.
Take brake or carb cleaner and clean that nasty stuff out of there and the roller weights too. Place a very small amount of good litium grease on the centershaft (boss) and a little on the variatro plate "U" clip sides and put her back together.
Make sure each roller track is smooth and the rollers moved nicely in the tracks and don't hang anywhere.
I'll shift better now and for sure will not be a source of the scooter stalling.

**UPDATE**
I just thought I'd update everyone as to the stalling issue I was having (note, the word "was"). After much exploration, it was determined that the valves indeed needed adjusting. The last guy that worked on it for me either, didn't measure them correctly, or didn't check them at all when he told me they were at .004 and .006. (I'm going to have a little talk with him!)
Due to time constraints and just pure frustration I ended up taking to a shop. Yea, it cost me a few extra coins, but, to be honest, I'm glad to have my ride running and idling as it should. I'm still having an issue with it "squeeling" at take off, but that's something to be left for another day in the near future.

Glad it's running better! Also thanks for the update, it lets us all know what's going on and Yes I would have that talk too!
