Hello all. I have been hearing exhaust sounds lately coming from the head pipe and decided to check the gasket. It was a gnarled mess. Thought it would be interesting to show a side by side with a new one. Looks like the headpipe was loose and permitted some movement ultimately mashing and burning the thing. Amazing.

Good looking rim, good price. Let us know how it turns out.

I had over 10,000 miles on my Gates belt and it practically looked new. I got a generic no name belt ("Gold") and it didn't last 800 miles. The key is to get the good stuff like Gates.

I have a Vog with the 257cc clone like the 250B and I have an 856. I've tried the 871 and did not like it - too big.

My Vog 260 (same base scoot) came with the 856 and when I changed it after 10,000 miles I tried the 871. It is a legitimate option for this scoot but mine was constantly slapping around. I went back to the 856 (at JR's suggestion) and I have been very happy. Just make sure to get a Gates or other reputable belt. I got a bait and switch generic belt from Scrappy and it shredded after just 800 miles.

Some people have done it and have had a lot of success. I happen to remember this thread from one of our related sites because it had some pictures showing the build. Invest some time on google and you'll find a lot people sourcing the part and discussing the install. here is a thread from scooterdoc to start you off: scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/3646

The muffler slides in to the headpipe and the instructions call for using a muffler joint sealer to join them together. I got an inexpensive tube of something at the local NAPA store for around $5. Be sure to tape up the chrome on either side of the joint before you do it though. I forgot to and I got compound on the head pipe from my fingers and I have not been able to get it off.
