Suggestion for an inexpensive 250cc scooter. Notice inexpensive not cheap. Have heard all the bad stories about Chinese scooters and on line sales but (knock on wood) my mail order bride has been great. Changed my oil, run it clean only 500km right now but I want to go further then 15 miles and more power for the tourist season here in south Florida. Looking at BMS or questioning the Roketa. Dealers here are few and far between and need to rely on the Internet.
Any suggestions would help...
Thank you

I prefer a Roketa over a BMS for two reasons, One BMS parts are high and sometimes exclusive to buy from them. Roketa on the other hand Parts are easy to find.
Other reason is I've had lots of good luck with my Roketas.

My Roketa, now around 6500 miles, has been fun to ride, but with some issues. First big one, took me months to finally sort out, was the inadequate OEM charging system. With all lights on, battery ran down within an hour or so. Tried lots of things, solution finally turned out to be a MUCH better R/R from Oregon Motorcycle Parts. Also had to replace the carburetor recently, disassembly and overhaul might have worked but our only local scooter shop (Kymco) would not touch it except for full replacement. Had to replace left handlebar switch cluster, turn signal switch failed at about 500 miles. Trunk is rather flimsy, had to reinforce the bottom considerably as it kept cracking from vibration. OEM radio is junk.
As to Internet dealers, beware of any that do not have an actual showroom and parts department somewhere.
As to Roketa parts, Roketa themselves are somewhat pricey, but it hasn't been hard to find alternate sources for the things I've needed.
Bottom line, an okay scooter for the price, but pay for or perform an absolutely thorough inspection on delivery, and expect to have to fix the odd thing from time to time.

Are the Roketa scooters still being manufactured? I never see a year for scooters, never anyone advertising "2015, 2014" etc. scooters. All questions posed on the Internet are with answers from no newer than 2012. There is no one in West Palm, Florida that has a" showroom". This is why I'm confused

Haven't noticed anything newer than 2012, some still on the market and marked way down. They go in waves, as soon as all the last of the new ones go from previous years they then make newer models.

So scooter manufacturers are not like automobile makers having a new model every year? I was skeptical when I saw so many scooters that were "new" that were made 2012, 2013. And all. Consider me still confused

Don't feel like you're alone,,,motorcycle manufacturers are doing the same thing now,,,,except for the really hot selling models,,,the others are not being imported so it's leftover haven right now,,,been like that for a few years now
